Chris Rock underrated?

Submitted by kaykaybroke on

Well there was a lot of talk on this board for Hakeem Flower's offer sheet pinning him as a underrated recruit, but a quick look at Chris Rock's list may be surprising to many as well..

according to his rivals profile (http://rivals.yahoo.com/michigan/football/recruiting/player-Chris-Rock-91268)

Chris is currently carrying offers from BCS schools like:

Nebraska

Notre Dame

Oregon

Pitt

Standford

WVU

and Wisconsin

...I think with those offers, and his size (6'5, 250) he has the potential to become a stud DE

any thoughts?

Chris Rock (ntcr) was highly rated early on as he had a pretty productive junior season despite nagging injuries and illness.  He was expected to break out this year and garnered impressive early offers.  Chris went Blue early in the process, but his senior year was singularly unimpressive for whatever reasons.  The few eyewitness evaluations that I saw were meh at best.  All of that said he seems like a real solid kid and he comes from a strong program so he has a chance to make an impact for the Wolverines - likely at DT.

I agree with you. It seemed like on one of his films I watched that he didn't have a ton of burst off of the line. I could be wrong and it could have been a bad film to watch but I also think that he will be a DT. He has decent size already and if he can add more bulk he could be pretty good. A RS year is probably a must / given for Rock.

He reminds me of a less touted RVB.  Rock could play DE, but I think overall is better suited to the DT position after some bulking up.  I also think that RVB's best position for success in 2011 is to move back to DT, but I'm just an idiot Internet poster.  Either way I fully trust in Greg Mattison's judgment (obviously).

My friend almost ran him over... kinda, If anyone has ever been to Yellow Springs Ohio they know that pedestrians there are insane, and you have to go like 10mph through town. Well while heading to a restaurant (sp?) we were heading through town and lo and behold one of the crazy pedestrians was Dave Chappelle (he lives there). Anyway he walked right in front of us and my buddy had to hit the brakes.

I watched some senior clips and he is the least impressive football I've seen talent wise. He has the tools and everything, he just looked flat and to me showed he had no interest in playing football. I really hope the kid turns out to be a hell of a player cause the name would be epic to hear on ESPN and Michigan simply needs some good players to turn this program back to a powerhouse!
