Champions Classic Open Thread: Sparty (Weird Guys) vs Duke, Now...Kansas vs Kentucky (9:00 ET)

Submitted by B-Nut-GoBlue on

Not much else to say.  Should be some good basketball played tonight (well, maybe not good as it's early season, but entertaining).  Not that we should root for them but seeing Duke annhilate Sparty tonight would make for an enjoyable evening...amirite?!

The better of the two games in my opinion will be the KU-UK game; two very talented rosters (Duke is loaded as well).

Go Blue!

...and UK.

Very clean, very nice.

They removed the blue bars from each and both have a more retro feel. Love them.

UK also changed the cut on their uniforms and have an older feel to them.

I'm glad Michigan isn't going to the 2014 adidas template, but I do wish we had our own uniforms that weren't just the 2013 adidas template.

Would love to see Michigan go with the clean white uniforms inspired by this (and make a maize and a navy version to match):

Because come February coach Cal will have a meeting with his players and implement some new, super secret strategy that will win them the tournament. I can't say for sure, but it will probably involve him showing a certain player game tape of LeBron James and telling said player to "play like that". Of course that's just speculation on my part.

...not even in the 10 man rotation.

ugh, we could've used that shot. We'll be fine, but damn, would've loved to have Booker backing up LeVert this year.

If Kentucky doesn't win a championship this year it's because they choked. Nobody in college is going to beat them on a night they play well. They probably have at least 8 first round picks on the team if not more.

Okafor is the real deal...and they have a better system, better smarts and equal talent at least 1 through 6.

It would be an awesome matchup.

Duke would at least have Okafor in the post and then they could roll out Plumlee for 5 fouls and some decent defense and rebounding.

On the wing they're probably better and Cal said it himself, 3 point shooting would give his team trouble. Duke shoots the 3.

UK may lose a game or two simply because they're not interested...but if you're talking best vs. best. Duke, IMO, is the only team in the country that would be able to keep up.

I think Wisconsin and Louisville would keep up if UK is good vs. their (Wisky and UL) best.

If you thought losing to Kentucky last year was annoying as they rebounded 60% of their misses this year would be so much worse.  Their frontcourt would get like 90% of available rebounds, we would have to shoot like 90% from three to win that game.

And no way do I think Duke is better or equal 1-5 and part of what makes this Kentucky team absurd is that their 6-10 is as good or better in some spots.  They have booker, who would be starting for us as their 7th guy off the bench. And of course upsets happen, I'm just saying its going to take Kentucky having a bad game to lose, not just a mediocore game but an actual bad game.
