CFB Risk Week 6 Homestretch - In The End, It's Us or OSU. Make Sure It's Us.

CliffsNotes Instructions

(1) If you want an order aligned with Michigan’s current battle plan before you attack/defend, go to Michigan Risk Central Command. You'll get a few options to choose from.

(2) If you insist on doing your own thing, head over to CFB Risk and attack any of the OSU (gray) or A&M (dark red) territories. Put differently...GO SOUTH

What a Difference a Week Makes

This time last week, things were looking grim. The Anguses had kicked us out of the South with a bad faith NAP offer, and were poised to conquer everything west of the Mississippi, and the Bucknuts were sitting pretty in the Caribbean with no immediate threats.

To make matters worse, the Anguses had multiple protected regions (5 total). And those region bonuses gave the Anguses a clear adjusted stars advantage over us (~5000 vs. ~3200), with the Bucknuts on our heels as well.

Meanwhile, we were licking our wounds in Canada while coming up with a new plan of action.

----------------

One week later....we're in first place, we've chopped up Texas, we border several Mexican territories, and we are threatening to break into the Caribbean. Additionally, the Texans-Lite have just ONE region (California ironically).

The Threat - Of Course It's Them

All of our gains, though, are precarious. We haven't yet breached Mexico or the Caribbean, and we don't have any protected territories in the South. Oh, and little Texas is still within striking distance for multiple regions.

The Caribbean is especially important. The Bucknuts have the second most raw stars in the game, and as long as they control the Caribbean, they can just about match our power. Additionally, because the Caribbean has so few entry points (just 5 -- 3 of which are controlled by their allies), it's going to require a bit of luck and a whole lot of power to break through.

That's why WE NEED ALL OF YOU TO PLAY. We have a path to victory, but that path hinges on gaining a foothold on the islands or in the Yucatan. With enough Wolverines, though, it WILL happen.

Here again are the instructions to play, as well as the latest map.

Go Blue and screw OSU!

Today I participated in the Battle of Los Angeles.

It has to start somewhere, it has to start sometime
What better place than here, what better time than now?

I've been playing for several days, and I use whataremyorders. I have to say that I find it confusing because my orders are often different from what the post talks about.

  • Today the post says I should get a few options. I got one.
  • The post says to go south. I was asked to target Alberta.

What am I not understanding?

They know the rogues are primarily going to (1) attack and (2) go after particular targets (OSU). I think the posts are trying to direct the rogues to some other places to attack and then use the orders website to make sure that all the other bases are covered.

First, you shouldn't post your specific order on this thread. We know other teams read these threads.

As to your questions....

If you are getting orders from the site, don't pay attention to the 2nd bullet point. It's only talking to people who don't use the site.

As for the options (or lack thereof) on the site, the code for the site is just an algorithm that allocates stars based on targets, quotas, and priorities that are inputted by leadership every day. When you went to the site today, the timing just happened to work out that the best use of your stars at that moment based on the algorithm was a single territory.

If you got your orders during a different part of the day, the algorithm may told you that a few different territories could each benefit from your stars.

Does that answer your questions?

Why is the Caribbean so hard to break through? We have bordered it from Annapolis on multiple turns and I’m sure many of us attack it every turn yet we have not once won it and broken the osu region

We have actually only held Annapolis for one turn in several weeks. Today will be our 2nd chance in a few days, hopefully better luck this time. Breaking into the Caribbean is difficult because we only have a few avenues to attack from unless we get deep into Mexico. Luckily we also currently hold Baton Rouge so we can also attack through there.
