CFB: Bowl Season kicks off this weekend - will you be watching?

Submitted by Amazinblu on December 11th, 2023 at 9:35 AM

The bowl season has arrived and six (6) games kick off the "post CCG" excitement this Saturday - December 16th.   Five of the six games have a spread of 3.5 points or less - so, hopefully, they are competitive and evenly matched.

No ranked teams will be in action and the lineup is as follows.  The favored teams are bolded.

  • Georgia Southern vs Ohio: Conway, SC, Myrtle Beach Bowl, ESPN  @ 11:00 am
  • Jacksonville State vs Louisiana: New Orleans, R+L Carriers Bowl, ESPN @ 2:15 pm
  • Miami (Ohio) vs Appalachian State: Orlando, FBC Mortgage Bowl, ABC @ 3:30 pm
  • New Mexico State vs Fresno State: Albuquerque, Isleta New Mexico Bowl, ESPN @ 5:45 pm
  • UCLA vs Boise State: Los Angeles (SoFi Stadium), Starco Brands LA Bowl, ABC @ 7:30 pm
  • Cal vs Texas Tech: Shreveport, Radiance Technologies Indepedence Bowl, ESPN @ 9:15 pm

Will you be watching?  If so, which game(s) capture your interest.   Anything specific you'll be looking for?

As for the Meteor Game - no specific request this week.

Enjoy...  Go Blue!

There's only two games of those six that are of any interest to me :

•New Mexico St vs Fresno State, because Michigan has Fresco St as next season's opener

and

•UCLA vs Boise St, because when next season arrives, the Bruins will be B1G members.

I doubt I'll watch either game very closely.

Not a single one. I hope every B10 team loses.

Rose Bowl will either be the last or the 2nd to last game I watch this year. Hopefully every big ten team gets their ass kicked after having a month to "advance scout" their opponents. Nope I'm not still bitter why?

Just not real interested in watching two 6 and 6 teams going after a win in a consolation game. The UCLA game involves a B1G team so that is somewhat interesting.

I’ll have the games on, mostly as background noise. I’ll watch intently if I have nothing better going on.

Family and I are going to the Quick Lane Bowl for the 3rd straight year. This seems to be turning into a tradition. My kids absolutely love it. They think it’s so cool to go to a bowl game :)

Considering this Saturday was God awful for sports..most likely..can see RichRods team and how quick he loses it and gets purple faced..plus I have always liked UCLA so generally watch them

Rooting for Rich Rod (Jax St.). I spent several years supporting him a vain when he was here, so (despite the ugly departure from Arizona) I still pull for him. Kind of like hoping your ex wife is doing OK.
Also rooting for New Mexico State which is a very good resurrection story AND has former Wolverine Andre Seldon Jr.

Sure, I'll watch some of them.  I'd go to Boise/UCLA, except for a Christmas party.  I'll probably bet some of them too.  Miami and NMSU look most appealing.

It’s kind of sad.  I remember back in the day enjoying the bowl games.  I even went to the Motor City Bowl one year to watch Northwestern face Bowling Green.  I rooted for the Big Ten teams.

My feelings now are the rest of the B1G can go f*ck themselves.  Rooting against them and rooting against Notre Dame will be the only thing I look forward to.  Although I may tune in to watch Georgia vs. Florida State.

UCLA I guess if I don't have anything better to do.

Looking at the list of games, the first one I'd actually have any interest in watching would be Utah-Northwestern on 12/23.

After that, maybe Louisville-USC on 12/27, then Or St-notre dame and ohio state-mizzou on 12/29 which gets us into the meat of bowl season.

He did a crappy job at Michigan and deserved to be fired, and made an even bigger ass out of himself at Arizona, but for some strange reason I still am rooting for RR. I admit it makes no sense.

I think this is the same phenomenon as rubbernecking.  It's like you've just driven by a horrible accident, and you're curiously curious about the fate of the occupants.

In our case, RR survived and UM is doing quite well.  You may now just hit the gas and don't look back.

I'll look in on a few games but not watch any intently. The team I'm most interested in watching is New Mexico State. One of my daughters has epilepsy, and I took an interest in Jerry Kill when he was coaching Minnesota. He retired from that job because of his epilepsy (stress and fatigue are often triggers for seizures).  He seems to have the seizures under control now.
