Can I watch tonight's hockey game on Comcast without ESPNU?

Submitted by Maize and True on
Sorry for my cable ignorance, but I have Comcast, which doesn't carry ESPNU in my area. Does anybody know if I can still get the hockey game anywhere else on Comcast? I am assuming that I will need to go elsewhere to watch tonight. Thanks for any help.

I think you're going to a buddy's house or the bar. Just ESPNU. Or you can try to find some video feed from justin.tv or myp2p.eu, but that could be tough.

Yeah, I did a title search and nothing came up... so I assumed I was SOL. This was my desperation effort in hoping to find that somebody had heard that Comcast would pick it up on a random station, with the possibility of not adding it to their listings. I'll have to head out somewhere or look for it on justin.tv instead. Thank you both for your help.

you get three Fox College Sports channels, which simulcast a bunch of games throughout the season - particularly good for those of us outside of the FSD footprint. I think you can also cancel it right away without penalty, since at least those three channels won't be of too much use as the season wraps up. You may even be able to activate online; worst case you can call and they'll turn it on pretty much right away.

Can't help with your conundrum, OP, but I just noticed that ESPNU is SD for the game on right now. I guess I'm getting spoiled, but it hurts my eyes to watch it. I guess we're all in the same boat here, right? There's no secret ESPNUHD channel that I'm missing? If so, that's pretty much inexcusable.

Mentioned above, but I'm in Chicago. Here, there ARE two different ESPNU channels - one SD and one HD - but nothing indicates which is which in my program menu. I just figured it out during a game yesterday by flipping between the two. I'd think it would be similar elsewhere when you have the same sports package to get ESPNU.

Thanks, I'll try to figure that out and hopefully find it in HD. I don't have a sports package, just basic Direct TV. Hopefully will find it. EDIT: D'oh, all I get is the one basic ESPNU channel. Oh well... EDIT EDIT: Called Direct TV. They don't offer ESPNU in HD even w/ the sports package. Bummer.

Did you try the channel? I didn't think I had ESPNU and I just went and turned the channel on, and apparently I have it. Don't have any special packages either. Wish I woulda knew about this awhile ago. EDIT: Just read a statement released by comcast in May 2009, saying that they added ESPNU to all Digital Classic subscribers. DOH!

I have Comcast as well. Try channel 735. It's SD, but I have it and I'm pretty sure it's part of the same tier of cable programming as ESPN2, BTN, etc. Could be wrong though. Worth a shot.

Does anyone know where I get get a good score update? I'm at work so I won't be able to stream the game but I'd like to follow along online somewhere. ESPN is usually pretty slow with their gamecast, any other suggestions?
