Caffrey's beer?
So I was recently in London, Dublin, and Barcelona. Aside from sightseeing, I had the opportunity to down more than my share of fermented beverages.
While in London, for breakfast, I was served a Caffrey's beer. Suffice it to say I believe it is the best beer in the world. So now that I am back in the states, I want more.
Ive been told by numerous sources, including Miller-Coors that the import rights now belong to Molson-Coors, who are no longer importing the beer to the US.
So now to my question - do any of you up in Detroit frequently cross the border, and if so, is Caffrey's available in Canada.
Will
If you are referring to Caffrey's Irish Ale, it was in the states when I was in college. Lost its import rights around 2004. It was great, I agree, needs to come back.
If I can't find it in Toronto, odds are good it's not going to be elsewhere.
Having said that, the fucking Target in fucking Columbus fucking Ohio has a better beer selection than I see in many Beer Stores and LCBOs. Liquor distribution in Ontario is another pathetic legacy of Prohibition.
On the bright side, it has made it easier to cut down.

Ohio is a pretty solid beer state as far as the consumer goes. It's no Michigan when it comes to the breweries, but it's still pretty lax on the blue laws.
Texas, on the other hand, is a HORRIBLE beer state for the brewers and the consumers.
other than the hot hot hot women in Calgary, is that it has a store named soley, the Beer Store.
closest you'll get is probably a boddington
They used to serve it at Ashley's - but that seems to not be the case anymore?
I had some in Toronto (at a bar) and my friend brought some back with him to AA after visiting someplace in Canada.
As vague as that info is, I would suggest calling some of the beer stores in Windsor and asking if they stock Caffrey's (which, by the way, I absolutely love).
starts working at one the beer stores in windsor on friday so i'll ask him. i will also ask some of my old bar conections in windsor and see what they have to say about it.
never mind what i just said. i think this will help you out.

Please, gentlemen, all this talk of multinational bottling corporations, heartless distributors and import deals is icing over my heart. Let's stimulate Michigan's economy by thinking globally, but drinking locally. There's nothing more patriotic (or tastier) than a pint of Final Absolution, an after dinner bottle of Vanilla Java Porter, or an ice cold glass of Oberon!
Support your local micro-brew today (just don't buy anything from Ohio)!
You call that local? Support your neighborhood homebrewer! I recommend $2 per bottle.
So far, I have been unable to find anything online that will ship to the states (or in my case, Columbus - yes, I know cbus sucks, ya ya ya... Other than tOSU its actually a cool place to live - hence why I am die hard UM fan and havent moved). My only hope is that when I go on my summer vacation to visit the family up in Michigan I can swing across the border and pick some up.
If someone does happen to hear of a place that will ship from Canada, please let me know.
You have no idea how tempting it would be to buy a keg just to have it on hand here in Columbus.
Caffrey's is awesome - my friends and I would always have a pint or four when we went to Windsor as undergrads. I'd say your closest facsimile would be Tetley's, but Boddington is kinda close too.

You must really love that beer, it's unbelievable that US stopped importing it since you think it's the best beer in the world, I figure you know few things about good beers. You should also try some of the beer of the month clubs maybe they have special products based on special orders.

When you can't spring for a sixer of Caffrey's, and you need something that'll work good and fast... Take it from Frank Booth...
