Buckeyes lose first commit
I think Day will do just fine recruiting at OSU but it’s still noteworthy they lost a commit directly because of Urban retiring. 2020 4 star DB.

When they start losing games to Michigan then I'll be impressed.

never forget!...that hilariously weird post.
December 4th, 2018 at 7:42 PM ^
Edit: redacted due to understanding this was a bad joke. Will take my lumps.

Nothing gets a laugh like jokes about domestic violence.

I suggest you take a left instead of right next time and take the internet highway over to the Red Cedar.
December 4th, 2018 at 7:57 PM ^
Is there a punchline in there because if there is i cant find it.
I mean if ur gonna tell inappropriate jokes sure to get everyone pissed off at least tell fucking funny ones.
December 4th, 2018 at 8:02 PM ^
Punchline?
December 4th, 2018 at 8:10 PM ^
I know right? I was funnier than that turd by accident than he was on purpose.
That's the Michigan difference right there.
December 4th, 2018 at 8:41 PM ^
It's down there somewhere, let me take another look.
December 4th, 2018 at 9:54 PM ^
Dammit can someone tell me the horrible joke so I can neg him, too?
That and I honestly just want to see how horrible it was. That boy got smacked with the negs.

I know some great wife beating jokes.

You want a wife beating joke? I can get you a wife beating joke. There are ways, dude. You don't want to know about it, believe me.
December 4th, 2018 at 8:12 PM ^
ok
this is awkward...mostly because we can’t believe you wrote that and hit preview...read that back...hit save...and then posted it...and then didn’t re-read it and try to edit it or something.
December 4th, 2018 at 7:49 PM ^
Is your name meant to be ironic? I ask because so many of your posts are jabs at Harbaugh.
December 4th, 2018 at 7:57 PM ^
Agreed, but you have to start somewhere. Landing Harrison would be another big step as would Haskins entering the draft, and finishing the 2019 class ranked ahead of OSU, and getting them at home next season. It COULD set up nice for just that.
December 4th, 2018 at 7:25 PM ^
I have nothing against coach Day but I can't put into words how much I hope Buckeye fans hate him in 5 years and it all starts somewhere.
December 4th, 2018 at 7:35 PM ^
I'd settle for this time next year because that probably means good news for the good guys.
December 4th, 2018 at 7:56 PM ^
Buuuut then they might just can him and fall into a good coach again like with Urban Reteyer. Better for them to have a decent but mediocre season capped off with a loss to us.
December 4th, 2018 at 8:00 PM ^
I am so sick of hearing the term "Buckeye Nation". When did this start? It's almost as if the tribalism and terrible behavior of OSU football fans and their support of questionable behavior and ethics gets celebrated with this term.
December 4th, 2018 at 8:09 PM ^
The Buckeye Nation mindset kind of explains the school's actions.
This year OSU's leadership made clear they're more worried about what Buckeye football fans at large think than the opinions of the actual university community, who care about the school's reputation and were much more critical of Meyer and the AD from the start.
December 4th, 2018 at 11:10 PM ^
If they happen to lose two or more games while adjusting to post-Haskins, post-Meyer OSU, Day is going to be uncomfortable in Columbus.
December 4th, 2018 at 7:26 PM ^
Osu will recruit itself. But I’ll be shocked if they close this class out strong
December 4th, 2018 at 7:34 PM ^
I heard that about Michigan once upon a time...(and not that long ago, it was someone trying to put Brady Hoke's strong recruiting in perspective.) Unless it's their childhood dream team, kids generally want to play for a coach not a school. Right now, Ryan Day doesn't have the cachet the Urban had.
December 4th, 2018 at 7:47 PM ^
Agreed.

2020 recruit. Plenty of time for Day to get him back.
December 6th, 2018 at 8:58 PM ^
plenty of time for him to seek greener pastures as well.
December 4th, 2018 at 7:26 PM ^
I'll laugh when a 5* DB commits to them tomorrow.
Then I'll cry.
December 4th, 2018 at 7:26 PM ^
Eh, it's a 2020 recruit, I wouldn't be surprised if he went back to OSU if they do well next year.
December 4th, 2018 at 7:27 PM ^
I do respect his decision.
Day said he's going to focus more on recruiting Ohio. I guess it's smart to acknowledge he won't be able to recruit nationally at Meyer's level. This recruit is from Texas, which has been fertile ground for Meyer lately.
December 4th, 2018 at 8:01 PM ^
He should focus on not having such a red face.
December 4th, 2018 at 8:04 PM ^
He actually came out and said this? That's almost a passive shot at meyer.
December 4th, 2018 at 8:12 PM ^
That could just be Day telling the people what they want to hear. That's pretty standard introductory press conference stuff.
December 4th, 2018 at 9:03 PM ^
I just don't understand why he would say that. I haven't heard the interview, so maybe it was asked of him, but to bring that up would serve no good purpose.
December 4th, 2018 at 7:29 PM ^
They'll do fine going forward, but if I were a commit that was repeatedly told Urban would be around next year, I'd be a little pissed.
December 4th, 2018 at 7:38 PM ^
Funny you say that, because Meyer said the reason he made his decision now was because they didn't want to mislead recruits. The new rules say, if a coach leaves after the early signing period, kids can leave also.
December 4th, 2018 at 7:59 PM ^
Interesting post.
Meyer said the reason he made his decision now was because they didn't want to mislead recruits - that's bullshit, of course.
The new rules say, if a coach leaves after the early signing period, kids can leave also - that's the real reason.
December 4th, 2018 at 7:32 PM ^
Good.
December 4th, 2018 at 7:39 PM ^
Seems like a sound decision - a smart young man.
December 4th, 2018 at 7:40 PM ^
Im very interested in seeing who declares for the draft. Would like to see most of em go, have a dip in recruiting, and then boom, before you know it, 1 year later and the talent is pretty much equal on the roster. Also curious to see how the staff moves shake out.
December 4th, 2018 at 8:03 PM ^
Add into that landing Harrison, getting them at home next season, Larry Johnson retiring (fingers crossed), and dare I say a win in 2019?
December 4th, 2018 at 7:41 PM ^
December 4th, 2018 at 7:44 PM ^
Maybe this works out, given what Meyer built over there, there's a lot of margin for error, but just handing Day the job was an insane move, he could easily be their Brady Hoke.
December 4th, 2018 at 7:57 PM ^
They have the opposite of BPONE over there-- they just assume no matter what coaching move they make will work out in their favor. I can't predict how this will turn out, but in theory they are fallible humans that can sometimes make poor decisions too.
December 4th, 2018 at 8:05 PM ^
I think it's premature to assume anything. There just isn't enough data to predict much of Day and we don't yet know who will be on his staff or which juniors enter the draft. But, history would say it's unlikely the next 7 years would be as successful as the last 7 years. Urban is one of the best of all time and it's unlikely Day will be, even given the situation and talented roster he walks into. Even if he's really good it will hard to maintain Meyer's W/L and recruiting record. That is good for us.
