He may have been a Spartan, but he was a football legend.

...classic Miller Lite commercials.
RIP, Bubba.
Bubba was a B1G all-time great.
He will be missed.
Bubba killed people long before Woodley killed people.
Rest in Peace, big man.
Then: Kill Bubba Kill
Now: Everybody kills...
Winner: Then
RIP Bubba!
...Mahoney and Tackleberry be attending the wake?
.....but David Graf (Tackleberry) died a few years ago, I believe.
He hasn' crossed my mind in a while, but I'm sorry to hear he's gone.
Rip Bubba, thanks for the memories.
Not announced, but 66 is a bit young to die from natural causes unless you spent most of your life bashing your brain around inside your skull. RIP
Did you ever watch him play football? Dude was a wrecking ball. He was the best player on one of the best Big Ten defenses ever, the 1967 #1 overall draft pick, 2-time national champion with MSU, 2-time Pro-Bowler with the Colts...
Either way--RIP big fella :(
The average life expectancy of an ex-NFL lineman is somewhere around 56; Bubba got around ten bonus years. I hope he enjoyed them.
RIP, Bubba.
Hope he is fighting crime in heaven!
Kill Bubba Kill
He was awesome in the police academy movies
Well before my time but I know of his significance. RIP Bubba.
RIP Bubba. On a side note, they didn''t even mention that he went to MSU on the ABC Evening News.
seeing him take Al Bundy's State Trophy on and then Al Bundy beat him for the winning T.D. to get his trophy back.
I got my trophy back.
Gibby #1

Bubba #1
Gibby #2
But it's splitting hairs...
I gotta go with Magic
Big fella.
Bubba was a true beast, no doubt about it. And props to Duffy Dougherty for recruiting black players from the south who couldn't get offers from the southern schools. That talent won MSU their national championships in the 60's. Props to them for that, and mad props to Bubba! RIP
Bubba Smith was the epitome of Biggie & Duffy's strategy for building MSU into the power it was in the 50's-60's. MSU cleaned up the black recruits from southern states and made themselves into national title contenders. It wasn't until Texas, Oklahoma, and the SEC started ending their racist ways that the football power shifted back toward the south during Bear Bryant, Darryl Royal, and Barry Switzer's rise in the 70's into the 80's which by that time racism (at least in recruiting) had been driven out of all major college football conferences.
RIP Bubba you played the game the right way.
Sparty or not. Rest in peace Big Man.
Have never had anyone quite like bubba. RIP big fella
One of the best.
There are certain people who you admire and respect, no matter what your allegiance is. Bubba Smith was one of those of those people..RIP

<br>I even liked Bubba in Blue Thunder.
1966, MSU-ND, 10-10, Ara Parseighan trying to run out the clock. At the snap, Bubba puts his blocker on his ass, grabs QB Coley O'Brian and drags him down in one motion, rolls over him, pops up and calls time. Took maybe 4 seconds. He was awesome.
Police Academy 8 is slated to come out sometime next year, I've read. Was he involved with it at all?
