There is “broad support” within leadership at the University of Michigan to move forward with a contract extension for Jim Harbaugh “as soon as possible,” a source with knowledge of the situation confirmed to The Michigan Insider on Tuesday afternoon.

The source indicated that Michigan will consider guardrails within the new contract to protect itself in context of the nascent investigation into allegations of improper sign stealing. But given the possibility of a slow-moving investigative process with the NCAA, leadership at Michigan feels they “can’t wait to find out” the conclusion before offering Harbaugh an extension.

Good. As we've seen time and time again, these "investigations" can literally take years. It would be stupid to allow a coordinated attack against Jim Harbaugh and the University of Michigan by its rivals to succeed.

Also fuck Pete Thamel, and people named Pete in general.

This is essential to the future of this program. And it makes Ryan Day shit his pants every morning when he wakes up and remembers that his face will forever be synonymous with the downfall of Ohio State football.
