Bringing friends to the Big House
Fellow MGoBlogophiles,
I am bringing a couple of buddies from Oregon with me to their first visit to Michigan Stadium for the Iowa game. I am wondering on your thoughts on what is a must-see/do when trying to show off game day to another school's fans. We get in Thursday night. What would you recommend for Friday as well as eats? Have a tailgate already setup with friends on Saturday and going to do the Big House tour on Sunday. Thoughts?

Anytime I'm trying to show off for my friends I take them to a rub and tug.

Then NYPD for a chicken roll. Then skeepers. Then boot. Then conners. Then hippie hash at fleetwood. It should be four in the morning at this point. Wake up at ten on Friday morning. Go to the brown jug for breakfast. Nap. Then wake up and go back to Dominick’s.

Take them to a cider mill.
In fact, I would recommend spending your Friday in Dexter. Start by kayaking or canoeing down the Huron river before getting out at the Dexter Cider Mill for donuts, then mozy across the street to Classic Pizza for lunch (best pizzeria in Washtenaw County). Hop on some bikes and take a ride at Hudson Mills in the afternoon. Then stop by Dexter's Pub and the Beer Grott for a few drinks before hitting up Fillmore for a fancy dinner.

if the weather is nice, I second the dexter cider mill on Friday idea.
On game day, the MMB pre-game drum line is pretty sweet to go watch. Iowa game is homecoming, so not sure if that changes the band’s typical pre-game.
I believe it happens in front of Revelli Hall on Hoover, not sure how long before kick off, others here would know better than me.

The Blue Tractor is a good place to go. Good food and a good selection of beer. Upstairs is more of a restaurant atmosphere and they frequently will have live music downstairs if thats your thing. Bills Beer Garden is a nice spot to sit down and relax. Its all outside and they have fires at night where you can get warm if its chilly after the sun goes down. If you are more into cocktails and seafood, check out the Black Pearl. And personally, I never go to Ann Arbor without stopping at Jolly Pumpkin. They carry some outside craft beers, but they specialize in sours which are some of my favorites.

Avoid most restaurants that have been open for many years. They're mostly running on fumes. Zingerman's is very expensive but I don't think it has slipped much.
Are there still "Main Street Ventures" restaurants on Main Street? If so, I'd suggest avoiding them, too.
What not to avoid? Tour the campus. Take a walk in some of the nearby neighborhoods. Have lunch at Frida Batidos.

Zingerman's, Maize and Blue Delicatessen, Connor's Irish Pub. The Diag, even though it's under heavy construction, The Law Quad, MDen on State St, walk down State and Packard a couple hours before kickoff.

Angelo's on Catherine St for breakfast

Perhaps this is a pure nostalgia choice, but Mr Spots. May not be the classiest joint, but damn if it isn’t an Ann Arbor staple. I have not been back in about 3 years, and that is the restaurant I miss most vividly.

Anthony's Gourmet Pizza if you have time.

Best part about grabbing tix and bringing your two imaginary friends to The Big House is you will actually have a little space if you decide to sit in between them.

Always a classic thread.
Show them campus/town on Thursday Night and Friday and pick out a classic restaurant to attend (Zingerman's if you have time and money, if not Maize N Blue Deli, Brown Jug, Ashley's, etc.)
On Saturday, tailgate and throw around the football for a little bit and get a taste of the tailgate atmosphere.
Then about an hour and a half before kickoff, head over to Revelli Hall to see the MMB drumline stepshow and march to The Big House with the band. It will get you into the stadium at the absolute perfect time too!

Not losing to Iowa would be a good start.
