Brian Wiseman leaves for the Oilers
I don't think this has been posted yet. Yesterday a bunch of different sources said that Brian Wiseman was heading back to the pro ranks to be an assistant at Edmonton. I don't know enough about what he was doing to know whether I should care or not. Someone is going to have to tell me what to feel

Good for Wiseman, if that’s where he wants to go. He was a holdover from Red’s declining staffs, and maybe wasn’t the fit that Mel is looking for. I generally feel good about people exercising their free will, specifically when no one get hurt in the process.
I don’t think it is wise to invite others to tell you how to feel. Spend some time on yourself.

When I was a kid I went to the UM summer hockey camps (still run by Mel). It was great because you stayed in the dorms, got on the ice at Yost 2-3 times a day, and got to skate/train/run drills with the coaches and a number of players (Red was there but sorta watched ... basically said a few words in the morning then again in the evening and that was about it). Wiseman was one of the kindest, nicest guys and always took extra time with us kids. I believe he volunteered for the camp every year he was at UM. Steve Shields was great too and as a goalie I got to work with him quite a bit.
I have the entire 1992-1993 teams autographs, including coaches, somewhere .....
If you ask anyone that played hockey in southwestern Ontario when he did before going to Michigan they will all say that he was the best player they have ever seen...
I worked with his older brother for a few years in Windsor. He told me a story of when Brian was the video guy for the star's... Brian was on the ice skating and taking shots at Turco... Brian was lighting up Turco and Turco was pissed because its the "video guy" doing it... I guess Turco didn't really know who Brian was and after a quick conversation Turco realized that it was THAT Brian Wiseman...

I feel like he wasnt a great fit here. If I remember correctly, he entered after the 2011 season and coached defense. We have only made one frozen four since that time and our defense has been a problem pretty much every year since.
