Bri'onte Dunn

Submitted by chewieblue on

Rumor here (in Canton, OH) is that Dunn, the OSU verbal commit,  will be offered as soon as possible.   Considered a heavy Ohio lean, but the new coaches and offense in AA might be enticing.  A big back with good speed and excellent strength:

Obviously not a RR type back, but seems like Hoke's type all the way. He was the SECOND big name in state back the Buckeyes offered.  Could that mean he may worry about PT at tOSU? Would be a great steal.

Boy I would love that to be true but what are you basing the "rumor" on?  I live in Hudson and have heard nothing that indicates he's going anywhere but Columbus.  Everything I hear had him as a mortal lock for OSU since 9th grade.

Where are you getting your information?  I get that we may offer him but what makes you think we can pry him out of Tressel's clutches?

He truly has 2 speeds first is the patience to find a hole in the line then once he finds it he hits that second speed and explodes through the line and is leaving defenders in the dust. If we get him that would be awesome but he is probably not going anywheres

Personally, that clip reminds me quite a bit of A-Train.  Cut a bit high, good acceleration for size but not elite, suceptible to going down somewhat easily when defenders go after his legs .... but man, when he hits that second gear, he absolutely devours yardage.  That's a big kid that can seriously run.

"shame on your thread's title" guys.  Haven't been around as much as all you.

As far as what info I'm basing it on, I know people at the school.  Hoke talked to the HC recently.  As far as stealing him from OSU, I really don't know if it can be done.  Just know that they offered Warren Ball of DeSales way before they offered Dunn, and they are essentially the same size and same style of back..  That sometimes is a red flag for kids.  Here's hoping.

was going for this:

"exhibiting eminence especially in standing above others in some quality or position"

... directly from Webster's online.  Thanks for the attempted shot at my intelligence though.  I'm not a Sparty fan.  Maybe everyone IS right about UM fans.  I guess we are snobby and a little PERSNICKETY.

you are right.  I do actually know for a fact he was offered.  Was just waiting for your credibility to save me from the "what do you know?" crowd.

Ohio HS coaches love Tressel, but many of them are familiar with and also love Brady.  I happen to feel that the Hoke hire paid itself off on that fact alone.

Here we go again on the board:

"Obviously not a RR type back, but seems like Hoke's type all the way."

You think Rodriguez would pass on a guy like that?

Poor RichRod (wherever he is) ... the "midget" idea will probably never die.  (For those that don't get the joke, RR apparently recruited only guys like Vincent Smith.  No Hopkins or anything ...)

Like it or not, Rodriguez generally didn't pursue big backs.  Yeah, he went after Hopkins...but of the 14 running backs he offered in 2011, only three (Remound Wright, Melvin Gordon, Savon Huggins) might be able to be considered bigger backs:

Wright is 5'9", 190
Gordon is 6', 185
Huggins is 6', 190

The majority of the backs he went after in 2010 were smaller backs, as well, although he clearly wanted a big back and got one in Hopkins.

Rodriguez likes small, shifty backs.  It's not a myth.

and OSU did.  That's passing on him in my book.  Wasn't bashing RR, I loved the guy,  was actually defending him by saying Dunn isn't an ideal fit for RR's style.

1 Hopkins and 10 midgets still adds up to 9 too many midgets.

he is commited to osu right? If we can get him up on campus then we will have a shot. Brady Hoke is well respecting in that state down south though so anything can happen.GO BLUE!!!

you messed up big time, did you forget that rich rod had Brandon Minor,Stephon Hokins. I know that RR did not recuirt Brandon Minor but he played him alot. As for Stephen Hopkins he would have gotten a whole lot more carries this season.

Ok I just watched this kid's film, and I must say I am not looking forward to playing him twice a year. But I do look forward to beating him twice a year if he sticks with the buckeyes.

how long it will take hoke and company years wise to land a recruit that sweater vest has offered as well? Hopefully WHEN we start a streak of own ohio kids will beg to come to AA! I cant think of a recruit that we landed that "that school down south" wanted too. hmm..

Hail!

is going to come to Michigan. Everything that's been said about him in the local paper (Canton Repository) was that he always wanted to go to OSU. I know things can change, but with the verbal it doesn't seem likely that this is a guy we're going to get.

This guy is from Toledo (Whitmer HS)? Yes, he is big on OSU, but the Toledo Blade has him quoted as saying he has always been a Huge Michigan Fan!  See Below:

"Ohio State has shown me the most love so far, so they lead," Wormley told the site. "Anything can happen in two years though. I'm probably going to wait until signing day, so I still have a long time to go. I still root for Michigan on Saturdays, and I'm a fan of them, so we'll see."

His best friend and Teammate Defensive End (Hayes) committed to OSU.  He is really pulling for CW to come with him, but CW is taking his time.  I would put my money on him coming to UM, especially for Mattison and Hoke!

What Verbal?  He has not Verbally committed anywhere!  I wouldn't say for sure that CW is a shoe-in (excuse the pun) for OSU...
