Bolden to announce on Friday and Latwan likes WVU

Per ESPN: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?entryID=4312980&name=Midwest_… Bolden has 23 scholarship offers, but has narrowed his choices down to Penn State, Oregon, Louisville, Northwestern and Vanderbilt according to his father, Robert Bolden Sr. However, Bolden recently visited Penn State and came away very impressed. The Nittany Lions may be poised to add a second top quarterback to their 2010 recruiting class. Latwan Anderson: I've got about six schools I'm looking at, West Virginia, Michigan, Georgia, North Carolina, Miami and Michigan State," Anderson said. "West Virginia is my favorite. I really like their coaches. I enjoy talking to them. And I like the family environment with the players." "Most of the schools are recruiting me as a safety," Anderson said. "But Michigan State wants me to play cornerback."

Do you think the fact that he is going to Glenville might "cloud" his true feelings about UM? I just think that he may not feel "free" to express his true feelings about UM since he might feel he'll get ribbed, teased, etc.... I REALLY like Anderson and I hope we get him! I just hate that he transferred to Ohio State High School!

I think that's possible. But my comment really had nothing to do with us, more his opinion toward the Mountaineers. If we truly are second to them now, I'm not nearly as worried as if we were second to OSU. If they offer, it's another story altogether. But you could be right in that UM is his favorite, but he publicly mentions someone else to avoid criticism at his pro-OSU high school.

You mean much like it forced Marvin Robinson to early on? I think that might be a factor, but honestly I don't think he would go out of his way to talk up another school as a mirage. It seems like he is genuinely interested in WVa, with his frequent visits there and familiarity with some of the players.

Marvin Robinson had to deal with one creepy old dude in Florida who likes OSU. Latwan might have to answer to a gang of tuff OSU fans in an Ohio-based hood. Not that I'm buying into any media conspiracy... but I could certainly understand a kid feeling threatened in the Glenville environment.

I'd love to have Anderson, but let's face it; we haven't landed a recruit from Glenville since Pierre Woods. Some of it has to do with Ginn and co. being very pro-OSU, some of it has to do with Ginn's beef with the previous regime. Our track record with Glenville recruits has been abysmal lately and I really don't see things changing anytime soon.

Bolden is most likely going to PSU; nice job by PSU on picking up two good QB prospects after picking up only 1 in the last 3 years and losing Pat Devlin. Long way to go with Anderson's recruiting, but with Ginn and co. still at Glenville, it looks like WVU or OSU (if they offer).

looks like he's between WVU and Michigan. OSU is looking more, and more that they wont offer. Id rather have Bolden go to PSU than MSU, prefer him to go out of conference but doubt it. Either way U of M has theirs in Gardner!

Seems strange that so many schools are recruiting him as a safety. Most of the recruiting services seem to indicate that he has solid mechanics and is underutilized in the offense OLSM runs.

I have watched him play at OLSM and have a few friends on the football team who say he is a great athlete has horrible decision making... idk how easy that is to coach..?

Decision-making is a tricky thing, in my opinion. It has a lot to do with confidence. Guys who lack confidence tend to make poor decisions, which leads to a lack of confidence, which leads to poor decisions, etc. If he's a poor decision-maker, then it's probably a good thing we never pursued him very hard. Rodriguez's offense is very heavily dependent on quarterbacks making good, quick decisions.

I was more or less pointing out that this class is very offense heavy for us so far (I wasn't thinking about star ratings). I'm sure that will change, given that defensive recruits seem to commit later in the process; for whatever reason.

Oh. I took it as this being similar to the talent (or relative lack there of) on defense that RR is recruiting here. We'll see if Barwis played a part in helping those 2 and 3 star guys put together a good defense or if it was mostly Casteel (although admittedly, I don't remember those defenses being THAT good).

I have absolutely no evidence to back this up, but I think Stewart will crash and burn the next two years. He seems like a nice guy who is overmatched at this level, sorta like Faust and Davie were at ND.
