Bo's Lasting Lessons
I just finished reading Bo's Lasting Lessons. It is an excellent book and I'm sure many on here have already read it, but if you haven't; it really ought to be at the top of your summer reading list. There are so many great stories and lessons to be learned in that book. I have a new appreciation for the work put in and the character instilled in the program because of Bo. It also strengthened my position (shared by many here) that you support the current coach simply because he is the coach and that really ends the debate.
It's a fantastic book. I read it last summer to get excited for the football season and it certainly did its job. It will teach you quite a bit about how to lead people effectively too.

It's a great book. I haven't read the whole thing since I don't have it, but I look at my grandpa's every time I visit and I love it.
That book was amazing - and it's a book that I've reread multiple times.
Some key lessons for fans? Bo had a lot of players quit. Way more than RR. Yeah, family values my ass RR haters. Second, Oosterbann encouraged his former players to let Bo have his shot at being their coach. There was no rift between coaches back then.
I'm assuming, Oosterbaan was a while before Bo, they knew each other and all, but Bump was his predecessor...

Bacon's a good guy. I'm curious if anyone here took one of his courses last year and knows whether he is working on a new book?
I unfortunately didn't get to take any of his courses as an undergrad, but I've met him a few times in person. I have a signed copy of "Blue Ice."
I don't know about a new book, but according to WTKA, he's in talks with Red and some local filmmakers to try and turn "Blue Ice" into a large-scale documentary, which I am absolutely stoaked about.
In addition to the documentary Bacon intends to release a new edition of the book when Berenson retires or M Hockey wins another national championship (whichever comes first).
He was going to start working on a similar book with Herb Brooks, but Brooks died in a car crash before they could get started
I've heard his class on History of College Athletics is awesome, too. I'm looking forward to taking that one next Winter...

I heard John U speak in A2 at the time that book was released. He gave a very compelling talk, making Bo come alive.
It's too bad on many levels that Bo passed away when he did. It would have been something if he and John U could have hit the road to promote the book.
on Fathers Day. I'm sure to some degree Bo was a Father figure for many of his players and probably the only father figure for some.
On the subject of Bo's Lasting Lessons when my son decided to be a highschool football coach that was the first thing I thought of was to buy him that book. He still uses as a point of reference.
