Bleacher Report Michigan Preview

Submitted by GoBlueDiggity on

Not usually the biggest fan of bleacher's content but thought I'd check out the season preview they had for the football team because the dog days of fall camp have me tingling with anticipation like I'm sure is the case for most of you.

Only a few things that stuck out to me, and especially because I feel as if Michael Felder has traditionally been pretty skeptical of Michigan the past few years. Key take aways for me:

- He thinks Evans might turn out to be one of the best rb's in the nation this season, which may be a stretch but he credits this to his all around game and improvement in the o-line

- The only other talking point that was different than most season expectations for michigan was that he predicted a record of 11-1, which I actually agree with if we can get through Florida in three weeks

I feel like Bleacher Report has gotten a lot better over the last few years. They seemed to have focused on getting local editors to actually generate content and left the gossip and listicles to Deadspin and Barstool Sports.

Still not amazing, but less deserving of the disdain it's previously gotten.

I actually like Felder alot. I've interacted with him several times on twitter. He is a former player and knows his stuff.  He scouts most of these guys in high school and then watches alot of college games.  i never felt a negativity towards Michigan in my talks with him.  I know he absolutely loves Don Brown, and was a huge fan of Jourdan Lewis and the secondary as a whole the last few years.  He's a former DB so he  has a bias towards secondary players.

Despite reports that he might be our backup, Chris Evans won the Heisman in my NCAA 14 season this past week.  2,200 yards rushing and 1,300 yards receiving + 62 total TDs.  Of course, that apparently happened in 2013.

I need to download the new roster. I just wish a new game would be made, one with the playoff, current uniforms, etc. I cannot stand playing in the BCS system on the game and hate the fact that Michigan is stuck with Adidas uniforms.

11-1? I'd clearly be thrilled with that. I like how he avoids picking which game is a loss. I assume he thinks it's OSU, but might be thinking, "11-1 with a loss to either one of these four teams."

I think Evans has the potential to be the next Reggie Bush(on the field not off). Kid gives you that Denard feeling when he has the ball, always a threat to make a big play. Higdon may "have the job" like LenDale White "had the job", but in my opinion we have a really special talent in the backfield who probably should've gotten more touches last year.

I actually had the Reggie Bush thought after he exploded early last season. But then I actually looked at Reggie Bush footage again.

Reggie bush was a 4.3 guy with incredible lateral agility and burst. Chris Evans is a 4.6 guy with good lateral ability and burst, but he's not on the Reggie Bush level. He still has tons of potential, but Bush was a singular athlete in his day (more like Desmond Howard, Chris Warrick, and Percy Harvin, really). Evans isn't quite there.

Right now, to me, he seems like Tim Biakabatuka without the ability to carry guys on his back for 20 yards. Which is pretty good. But gaining the ability to go beast mode on guys would be a plus.

I think Khaleke and Hurst deserved mentions on D. I had been thinking that PSU would be our loss, but upon further review, Harbaugh seems to take special delight in coaching circles around Franklin. So, probably Camp Randall, if any at all. I used to be very vigilant against optimism that would lead to inevitable pain, but I'm actually beginning to think that it smells like 1997 up in here. What happened? Harbaugh and his entire football culture happened. Props to Felder for having the stones to separate from the pack and say what so many of us are thinking.
