Big Weekend for Michigan Sports (not just football)
Just thought I'd give a heads up for those that weren't aware, but the Big Ten Tournament for both women's soccer and field hockey concludes this weekend. Hockey continues into conference play with Northern Michigan Friday and Saturday, and MIchigan has a rivalry soccer match with MSU on Saturday night. Men's Tennis Big Ten individuals are this weekend as well.
Women's soccer faces off against OSU tomorrow in the semi-finals at 12:30 on BTN. If they win, they'll play in the finals on Sunday as well.
Women's field hockey beat OSU 1-0 today and will face Indiana tomorrow in the semi-finals at 5 pm ET on BTN. If they win, they will play in the championship game on Sunday at a TBA time.
Maybe women's sports aren't your cup of tea (can't blame you) but these are championship matches so hopefully you can tune in for a bit.
Can't find any info on who is participating in the Big Ten Individuals for Michigan, but we're bound to have a couple I'd imagine.

Awesome, thanks for letting us know. Always good to know about other MIchigan sports even if they are not followed as closely.

I would imagine both the field hockey and women's soccer teams are in really good places to make the NCAA tournament. Soccer is probably almost for sure at this point, where field hockey is more on the right side of the bubble (ranked 13, 11th in RPI for a 16 team tournament before this afternoon's win over OSU) but a win over Indiana tomorrow would probably make it all-but-sure.
For men's soccer, they actually have a pretty good shot at the NCAA tournament, too, despite being just 7-8-1 overall, they had a ridiculously difficult schedule and sit at 34th in RPI (48 team tournament). If they can get to .500, which would mean either a win over MSU this weekend and going at least 1-1 in the Big Ten tournament, or losing to MSU this weekend, but at least making the championship game of the Big Ten tournament, I think they'd squeak into the NCAA tournament, which would be a huge victory for 1st year coach Chaka Daley.
Hockey needs a good weekend at NMU in their first roadtrip of the year; they really need to buckle down defensively and improve on their 3.2 goals/game allowed average. Even if it costs some of their 4.8 goals/game for average.

Really good stuff. I was actually wondering what the teams chances of making the NCAA tourneys were. I saw earlier this year that the Womens Soccer team had a 10 game unbeaten streak at one point.

Michigan also defeated Olivet today in Wrestling 46-0! 9/10 wrestlers won by major decision or tech fall or pin, scoring bonus points. The only wrestler who didn't score bonus pts won by 7 points (which is 1 pt away from a major dec.)
They face a very tough Central Michigan team on Tuesday in Mt. Pleasant.

True, but you may not get the starters given that it is an open. Probably all non-starters (open tourney) and many may wrestle "unattached" or at least the used to. Either way, wrestling is wrestling and it is a cool sport to watch anywhere.

You're exactly right. About half the team went as a team and I think we sent four or five competing unattached.
