Big Ten Shrine Game 2023 - East vs. West All Stars

There is no reason not to organize and schedule something similar, raise a crap ton of money for charity in the process (cancer, MS, MD, HIV, etc.)

Yes, we'd witness all star college football players donning Wolverine, Spartan and Buckeye helmets all on the same team.  But that happens on Sundays anyway, and it would all be for a good cause.

The cautionary tale on this is Robert Edwards. Finished a fantastic rookie campaign with New England after leaving Georgia, blew out his knee in the rookie flag football game, almost had his leg amputated, eventually came back for a cup of coffee after 3 years of rehab (but cut and ended up in the CFL for a few years)

The top players don't even play in the bowl games. They won't be in the shrine game or any other showcases. It's the guys who want to improve their draft stock you'll be seeing.

Brad Hawkins played in it last year. It's for seniors who have NFL attention but not sure how much. Many (all?) teams have coaches that serve as coaches for the week for scouting purposes.

good players dont even play in their team's bowl games to avoid injury, these all star games are toast. the only players who go are borderline picks who want to show more to scouts

The NFL already axed the Pro Bowl this year and that is partially why.  People are starting to realize football is dangerous.  The players will still play on Sundays because that's how they get paid and provide for their families.  Also I'm sure they enjoy it to some degree.  Playing a possibly life-altering game for charity is not something they'd want to do.

i mean, id love to see what JJ would do with Smith Njigba and Harrison Jr.

I don't know what you mean by osu, msu, and Michigan though. Unless the portal plays LT, there's nobody on msu (outside of Reed) worth a damn.

It hasn't yet been said, but those are some weird highlights.

I feel like markusr2007 is actually a conspiracy nut and is using mgoblog to send coded messages to his like-minded conspiracy nut comrades.

1976 The College All Stars played the NFL winner. It ended and maybe one of the best pre-season games. Surprised that the collage team did fairly well.
