Michigan vs. Illinois will be fun to watch this year . . . Illinois is really pushing the ball up the court and shooting (and making) a lot of 3s.

Illinois is probably the B1G team I know the least about, so excited to get a chance to see them. You're right, crazy entertaining team. I'll take UM in a shootout everytime though.

I'm just glad to see a useful board post providing value instead of rampant opinion / speculation, good work!

I still remember some snot Maryland fans with a sign saying "Where's the challenge?" back in probably around 2007 or 2008 since the ACC was 9-0/10-0 around then
Its quite satisfying to see us go 4-0-2 (edit: 5-0-2) against them since.

GIven some of the earlier Big Ten results I can't really blame them. Nice rebound for the conference though.

So is MSU the top football/basketball dual threat in the country right now?
Fuck, it fucking hurts.
December 2nd, 2015 at 10:26 PM ^
Don't you actually have to, you know, win something.
Getting blown out when you play a team with a pulse (Duke) doesn't really do anything.

If you haven't got the sense to admit that the current football/basketball combo in Sparty-land is top-shelf, then you take the prize as our biggest homer...

I'll take Harbaugh/Beilein over Dantonio/Izzo.

but the results right now still point to MSU. Those assholes have it good right now.

We went to 3 NFC titles even though we're a college team? Go Blue!

That's some enthusiasm.

Just to be clear, in my original post, I meant the the school with the highest ranked football and basketball team this year. NOT the school with the best coaches. Even if my use of 'dual threat' made it sound that way. I'd take Harbaugh/Beilein any day, like you said.

He was also fired and under his watch the school had sanctions.

Oh, do you have to be the head coach of another organization to claim their season?
Can I take Nick Saban's national titles then?

Has this r\un by Dantonio already surpassed any time period during Bo's career?
I will give Bo the credit for longevity but he never really got UM beyond a regional power playing in a down Big ten.
December 3rd, 2015 at 12:06 AM ^
Just cause you sucked dick in the Bo years doesn't mean the whole B10 was down.
You even tried to cheat and that didn't work.
December 3rd, 2015 at 12:21 AM ^
Up until maybe this year, the Big Ten has been a joke overall.
December 3rd, 2015 at 12:25 AM ^
What was your bowl record?
....And I don't think I would bring up cheating if I was a UM fan.
December 3rd, 2015 at 12:36 AM ^
Just like when your former player admitting to cheating tournament drug tests on twitter this summer?
How about the local media cover up Bullough's steroid suspension?
What does bowl record matter? Give me a conference title.
Will you really care that much if msu wins a Big Ten title and then gets blown out against Alabama?
Some quality teams didn't even go to bowl games back then, you should be knowledgable on why concerning that subject.
December 3rd, 2015 at 12:52 AM ^
Wow I just looked it up and Dantonio has actually already equaled Bo with 5 bowl wins. Winning a conference championship is a big deal, especially now that the Big Ten is more competitive and there are 14 teams and there are no shared titles and you must win a championship game. MSU is playing in it's 3rd one. I can understand your bitter jealousy.

Wow, I just looked it up. Bo ended up with 13 Big Ten titles, all of which came in seasons with regular season games against Ohio State.
Interestingly, D'antonio has two Big Ten titles and both came in seasons where there was no regular season game against Ohio State.
2010 seems a bit weak as Tressel's margin of victory over D'antonio was usually of the blowout margin so that is a weak claim to a title.
I don't believe Bo ever avoided playing Ohio State any season as well. D'antonio seems to have done that a few times.
Also, its awfully weird that in 2013, Ohio State, Wisconsin, and Penn State weren't opponents of msu. And that was when there was only 12 teams!
I hope D'antonio is able to get to 13 titles. I know his health isn't great.
Keep me posted. I am too jealous, so I won't be able to chat on your SpartonDog Forum.

Of course, Izzo's never quite had a season on the injury front like we did last year. Even his "weird guys" season can't compare to losing both starting guards to season-ending injuries. Last year screws up Beilein's records.
December 3rd, 2015 at 9:38 AM ^
Their "road" to the final four last year was garbage too, had to be the easiest bracket eye has seen.

MSU came back to win that game. How is MSU out performing us so much? Just when we close the gap a little, they pull away...far away...from us.
