The best thing Charlie did
With Charlie departing from Notre Dame, let us not forget the one good thing he did. He granted a dying boy's wish a few years ago:

What about spotting us 38 points in the 2007 game, helping us to recover from the worst start to a season ever?
Or what about passing when up 3 points with 2 minutes left against us this year?
Those were great moves.
In all seriousness though, I never heard about that...that was a pretty awesome thing he did.

This was one of only a few times that I was glad a Notre Dame play worked and that they won.

This was indeed a good thing he did. Also, I think he probably did a lot more good things than this.
He corches for a rival school, but he's hardly an evil guy.
Arrogant? Yes. Brusque? Yeah. Dissembling? Sure.
Actually a bad person? Highly unlikely.

I remember seeing that on gameday and I will always remember that as the best thing Charlie ever did at Notre Dame.

Good post, that and the interviews with Weiss talking about how all of the personal attacks leave an impression on his kids put things in perspective. I still think the fat jokes were harmless, but there is a line I wish people wouldn't have crossed. I would be excited to see a reinvigorated ND, as long as we rise faster.
