Bellomy to Transfer

Submitted by Tate on

We all speculated it after reading Chris Clark's letter from Jay Harbaugh, but now it's official.

Hard to blame him. There was almost no way he was going to get to play next year, and even though the Nebraska game was a few years ago, its still all he's known for around here. Its good for him to go somewhere where he can get a fresh start.

I'm hoping that wherever he ends up next year that he gets some meaningful playing time, and maybe even starts. Either way, with getting a degree from Michigan, he's a winner no matter what happens.

Best of luck, Bellomy. Thanks for all of the effort you put it over the past few years.

true, but we were well on our way to covering before russ couldn't complete a single pass....lost almost a grand on that game. moral of the story: dob't bet on your own team.

Gave his number 8 away in his letter last night that good things were not in store for him. Thanks for the memories. We will always have Lincoln to remember you by.

He also endured an ACL tear and recovery...

Somewhat sadly, its probably the right move for all involved. I always hoped he'd jump into a game and rifle off a few crisp throws and we'd forget all about the blitzes that the OL couldn't pick up in Lincoln.  I partially blame the coaches for not giving him something like a dump route/wheel route where he could at least get rid of the ball.  Nebraska had something on Borges where they seemingly knew what he was going to call, some player advertised it the next year in AA, post-game.

Watching a lot of the Borges games I got the sinking feeling that other teams often knew the call pre-snap. I wonder if it's really true.

By the way, Jeff Mortimer (of Dump the Dope semi-fame) is stall around. I was an Ann Arbor News paperboy back on those days and always entered and liked seeing the winners names in the paper on Sunday.

Man, I don't know why Bellomy wouldn't want to stay and get his degree here. Seems a little wacky, as he's getting free school and doesn't seem to have much future as a QB.
