BCS Bowl Lines

Submitted by jamiemac on
I think there are a lot of great bowl matchups on the BCS undercard, but none of those lines are out yet. But, we do hae lines for the BCS games.....here they are: USC -10 over Penn St, 47 VT pick em over UC, 40 Bama -11 over Utah, 45.5 Texas -8 over OSU, 54 OU -3 over Fla, 72 Initial thoughts.....the title game line has seen furious OU action already as it opened at -1.5......yet, in the BCS Title game, the underdog is 7-3 SU and ATS......72 seems like a little too low if these offenses get clicking......I also like VT, OSU/Texas Over 54 and OSU. Am I crazy, but I kinda think PSU and Utah wont get blown out either. Thats all subject to change. Discuss.

alabama really got stiffed in this selection...they had a great season and now theyre not gonna get to play a game that shows how good they really are. they will steamroll utah and it will be comletely boring to watch.

I think the best picks here are: -Texas vs. OSU: Under 54 - Maybe Texas will put up some points, but do you really see OSU scoring that much? -Bama vs. Utah: Bama -11 - Remember Hawaii last year? This is going to look a lot like that. Alabama is way, way too much in the trenches on both sides of the ball for a mid-major. -OU vs. Florida: Florida +3 - OU's margins have been impressive, but they are giving up a ton of PPG despite the fact they haven't punted since last year's Fiesta Bowl. If you twisted my arm, I would also say: -SC vs. PSU: SC -10 - I can't see PSU putting up very many points. USC's linebackers and safeties will make plays in space and contain Penn State's spread. -Texas vs. OSU: Texas -8 - Big Ten had terrible draws. OSU can't really compete here, I don't think. - OU vs. Florida: Under 72 - Florida can play a little defense.

2 years ago, OSU lost 41-14 in the title game, and last year was 38-24. Both are over 54 even with out last year's desperation drive by OSU. I think Texas is the best team in the nation and should have their way with OSU. They had the toughest schedule and still managed to score over 40 points in 7 games. Over Florida plays defense, Oklahoma does not. Florida +3 By my calculations, PSU and USC have roughly the same strength of schedule. This will be an emotional game for PSU because they haven't been to the Rose Bowl in 14 years and this could be JoePa's last game. PSU +10 I agree with the Hawaii comparison. Bama -11 Cincinnati and VT. Over

USC beat up on a weak Pac-10 this year, so I think the Big10/Pac10 schedules for both teams come out to a virtual wash, both teams had an embarrassing but close loss to a conference opponent (though Oregon State is clearly superior to Iowa), but the Ohio State comparison cannot be left out. These 2 teams gave the Fuckeyes their only losses this year, PSU's was pretty close and USC exhibited complete dominance. I'd like to think the mental factors might shift things back in PSU's direction, but I just don't see it happening

I would take Texas without a second thought. OSU will scrape together 10-17 points and Texas will just eat them up. I'm guessing OSU fans are pretty scared right now. They may stop wishing for BCS games soon. If I had to pick I'd take USC. I don't see PSU scoring much on USC. However, this is not a vintage USC offense and points may be scarce. Maybe the under is a better bet than the line? I'd take UC over VT because VT cannot play the offense. I don't see Utah getting blown out. They'll keep it close against Alabama. Title game? No idea. Hope you took the Steeler over the Cryboys. You just knew Romo had another pick in him. Did you see the way that bitch would run over to the heater every single chance he got? WOOOOOOOOO!

I sure did......I got in on the ground level, so had Pitt -3 for a couple of bills. Of course, they covered the closing line of -4 for good measure. Fawk the Cowgirls.......that game was a street fight and there's another rumble on deck. Did you hear that when Dallas got the back at 13-13 and the Steelers called a timeout after a first down stop, that Romo started talking trash with the D. Asked them why they are helping Dallas out by calling timeouts. Next play......well you know how it goes!! They've got some football magic in their back pocket........hopefully it can take them all the way to Tampa.

I think the best bet is Alabama laying the points with the over. I know you can't take one game and use it as an example of how the team is all the time, but Utah's offense struggled at times this year against average or even below average teams. I think Bama is going to smack them in the mouth. Other than that: - I like Texas laying eight with the under as I don't think OSU will be able to ring up a ton of points against that defense with Pryor at QB; - Penn State to cover but lose. No opinion about the number; - Florida to win outright with the over. OU has been a bowl disappointment for four years running. Since it won the 2002 Rose Bowl, OU has won only one bowl game: 2005 Holiday Bowl v Oregon. Since then, they were crushed by LSU in the Sugar, USC in the Orange, WVU last year, and lost to Boise St., a team that they had no business losing to regardless of how awesome the game was. All credit in the world to them for being in their fourth National Championship game since 2000, though. I'm not really confident in the over. That's a lot of points.

I'm not sure Alabama is going to Roll Utah like most of you seem to believe. Everyone looks at their wins over Clemson and Georgia and assumes they're a powerhouse. But then you see close wins over Kentucky and LSU, and a less than dominant win over 2-10 Tulane (Tulane actually out-gained Bama, as Bama really only had one scoring drive the entire game) and you begin to wonder. Bama is a solid team, but I'm hard pressed to see a repeat of Hawaii-Georgia. I think Utah is solid on the lines and won't be physically abused the same way Hawaii was. Additionally, Alabama, outside of Jones, doesn't really have any gamebreakers. They have good, but not great backs, and John Parker Wilson can be a real liability at QB. This one is going to be close. I think Texas will Roll. I can't seem to form an opinion about Va. Tech and Cincy (and honestly, who would want to?). I think that if Penn St. and USC played this Saturday, I'd pick PSU, but Pete Carroll does an outstanding job of getting his team ready to play bowl games. With the exception of the Texas game, when ESPN was already crowning them one of the best teams EVER, I can't remember USC not being dominant in a bowl game. In the "Championship" game, I think the Big 12 offenses are really that good and Oklahoma's Defense is underrated. I expect it to be tight, but with Oklahoma winning in the end.
