Coach Nussmeier is starting to make his imprint on the Michigan offer list as highly touted signal caller Jarrett Stidham confirmed with me that he was offered by the offensive coordinator this evening.

Stidham is listed as a dual-threat quarterback and has the 40 time and highlight tape to back up that claim. He has a pretty loaded offer list already so Michigan is a little late to the party but he told me that he likes Michigan with some excitment.

Stidham is very impressive on film but he's from Texas and has a lot of offers already. Nussmeier will have to work some magic here but I like the offer.

With the apparent change in QB philosophy whats the take on how many per class ? Will we now be more apt to take 2 ?

Yeah, this is really pissing me off - now I'm going to have to write ANOTHER set of scouting reports!

But anyway, these guys (Barnett, Stidham) seem to be more dual-threat types than the 6'5"-6'6" pocket statues that Michigan seemed to be pursuing previously. They're not necessarily further up or down the list...they're just different.

It appears that Nussmeier wants to take Michigan in more of a shotgun spread direction than what Borges/Hoke originally planned.

Yes... I still believe a reliable dual threat QB is the future of football. They don't need to have Denard rushing ability but be mobile and have an accurate arm.

concept at Michigan.  I guess Harbaugh would be the first of the mobile passing QBs, at least in more modern times.  Michael Taylor, I guess...though more of a running QB.  Todd Collins was quite mobile for a tall QB, no doubt his days on the BB court didn't hurt.  Of course Brian Greise as well as Scott Dreibach were mobile.  Not barn burners but they could get themselves out of trouble.  One of the biggest draws about Drew Henson was his mobility.  Alas, then Carr sought QBs chiseled from marble.  Ben Roethlisberger on a broken leg has more mobility than either Navarre or Henne.

Stidham's numbers are not bad at all (HERE)

This season, he was 160-268 (59.7%) for 2,687 yards with 30 TDs and only 5 INTs. That's 16.79 yards per completion and 10.03 yards per attempt. On the ground, he had 143 for 975 yards. which is good for 6.8 YPC. I am thinking that Doug Nussmeier could find a place for such a QB if this keeps up.

UM should also look at Kyler Murray from Allen High School in Allen, TX.

Michigan has to do a better job recruiting Texas.   Urban Meyer has grabbed elite players from the DFW area the last two years.

It'll be difficult to pull Murray from Texas. Murray is an A&M lean. His dad played QB for the Aggies. People around here are already calling him the next Johnny Football due to his similar playing style.

How do you get these kids numbers so fast to talk to them? It seems like they get offered and boom, you're already interviewing them. Definitely not a complaint, I'm just surprised, that's all. And riveted, guess I should throw that in there too, because I do enjoy what they have to say.

This is funny. Mainly because people thought Gardner would be out at QB because of Nuss. It seems he prefers players like Gardner over pocket passers.

In today's game speed and elusiveness at the quarterback position coupled with gods passing ability creates an opportunity for a wide variance of offense. I think the perfect dual threat QB is a guy like Russell Wilson plus a few inches. I love the offer.
