Baseball upsets #4 Illinois
Michigan is two games away from the NCAA Tournament.
This is the first meeting between Michigan and #4 Illinois this season.
Michigan is in the B1G Tournament Semifinals for the second consecutive season. But this time, they have the advantage and only need to win once today to advance to the championship against Maryland.
Game is on BTN.
EDIT: ONTO THE CHAMPIONSHIP
from the bracket you sent us it looked like we would only see them in the finals.
They lost to Maryland and had to beat MSU yesterday in an elimination game.
Not sure how it works but how in the hell did we not play Illinois this season? Don't baseball teams play a million games in a regular season? Seems odd.

3 game series set in a 13 team conference with no protected rivalries.
Michigan hasn't played MSU in a B1G series since 2013.
Michigan has played a series with OSU just once in the last four years.
It's awful.
Adidas make a hat that stays on?
Looks more like the pitcher has a violent finish to his delivery
Evan Hill gets out of a 2-out bases loaded jam.
So how do the pitching matchups play out for this game and a possible game tonight? Does Michigan have an edge in either game, I know Illinois has a great staff.

Fuck Adidas - the sleeves remind me of the trash worn in 2011.
Fucking terrible.

Michigan is not obligated to wear those White Socks throwbacks.
Those were an adidas template from a couple of years ago but the team decided to keep them for whatever reason.
Just an awful look, regardless.

I want the Bo hat back and traditional jerseys. Not shirtsees.
The Bo hat is the best. I don't like that fat yellow M they are wearing with the yellow bill. It doesn't say "Michigan" to me. It looks like some generic thing you'd find at Target or Sears.
Right place, right time. Double play.
If anyone is unable to watch, I recommend this stream..

Go Blue!
I have never seen a HBO occur via a voice I front of the batters box.

I'm still not sure what you're trying to say.
Bases loaded with Cronenworth at the plate.
RBI double by Cronenworth and Michigan leads 2-0!!!!!
2-out rallies!
2-0 Michigan after 2 innings.
Why are the uniforms so fucking shitty/ugly!?

Make up your mind, dude. Are the fucking shitty or fucking ugly?
Personally, I think those unis are sweet, except for the exact opposite.

Because adidas has an obsession with morphing the White Sox and Astros awful looking past uniforms and putting all their schools in it.
Let's get one thing straight: on the Sox and Astros in the 80s, during the pullover era, those looks were pretty fucking spectacular.
Adidas butchering them for college baseball is an entirely different story.
Nah, they're pretty ugly in 2015.
But they were probably fine in the 80s when things looked different.
Isn't that pretty much exactly what Bando said?
Yeah but I'm not gonna openly agree with him.
Yawn.
Sorry, but I was around in the 80s and the those Sox and 'Stros jerseys were hideous then. In that era, the only thing worse was this gem
Guess we can expect this as an adidas template next season.
I wish those would make a comeback (on some other team).
made me think of the Expos. . . .
Would be great not to have to play a second game against Illinois before the title game. Get some more rest for our arms.
What a play.
These announcers are so full of shit. These aren't throwbacks.
THESE are the throwbacks Michigan wore.
does the B1G play these games in a nearly-empty MLB ballpark? I'd love them instead to rotate the tournament to mid-sized cities with minor-league ballparks within the B1G 'footprint'. The attendance would be much better---cities with MLB franchises won't pay much attention; a city such as Grand Rapids getting the B1G Tournament would treat it as much more an event, especially if rotated with other cities every 3rd or 4th year.
Just like that epic failure B1G Hockey Tournament
the B1G refuses to do the thing that actually makes sense and hold the tournament on campuses.
The only thing I can think of is the student athletes relishing the chance to play in an MLB stadium. Other than that I have no clue.
Also they should sell beer at off campus sites. I went to the B1G hockey tournament in Detroit and was severely disappointed that they weren't selling beer.
Or, ya know, campus sites.
there is almost zero excitement, the atmosphere is pretty dead. There has to be a better way
Didn't the tournament do pretty well in Nebraska? You know, where there's an established college baseball fanbase.
I wish I had some extra time, because I would actually love to catch a game at Target field this weekend. It's a selling point for me. But then I root for Michigan and don't always have a local MLB team to see whenever I want.
And two hours is a bit too long to drive.
I think the smaller-town idea is pretty good. But honestly I don't think this well draw very well anywhere. Smaller venues at least look respectable.
In fairness, WD, the B1G hockey tournament at least had the reasonably successful CCHA finals to use as a blueprint for holding games at the Joe. There is no similar record of success for college baseball.
without further damage... YES!!! Did it!
Illinois cuts into the lead.
2-1 Michigan headed to the bottom of the 4th.
Tie game.
That error hurts
Bryan Pall replaces Evan Hill on the mound.
Pall gets Michigan out of the inning.
Leadoff double by Cronenworth. Little bit harder and that ball is a homer.
