B1G-ACC Challenge
Watching Purdon't - Miami (YTM). I'm sure more to come - haven't checked the schedule.
Bummer M-NCSt is postponed, but I do love this annual battle.
Which games are you looking forward to seeing?

There are some GREAT matchups this evening and I’m looking forward to some good basketball.
December 8th, 2020 at 6:48 PM ^
Nice story. Glad you could stop to make a worthless post.
December 8th, 2020 at 7:59 PM ^
What's worthless about some college basketball? Clearly, you don't hang out here enough over the holidays when this board is entirely bad bowl games and random hoops games, some of which happen to involve Michigan.

Iowa-NC is gonna be fun.
December 8th, 2020 at 6:51 PM ^
Sadly, Purdue had a big lead and is getting hosed in the last 8 minutes. Multiple no-calls on YTM and close calls against PU.
December 8th, 2020 at 6:58 PM ^
Have to score here
Edit: two is fine
December 8th, 2020 at 7:00 PM ^
Why would they foul
December 8th, 2020 at 8:32 PM ^
Shot clock was off.
Looked to me like the two late charge calls were not called the same. And a couple travel calls. That's 4 possessions.

Purdue blows a 20 point lead and the ACC is 1-0
December 8th, 2020 at 7:13 PM ^
nice job purdue. they have to be about the worst team in the big ten. i see perennial under achiever wheeler is still on that time and getting a lot of minutes. that dude has regressed every year.

Purdue has Canadian Yao Ming

<that's racist gif>
December 8th, 2020 at 7:47 PM ^
Anyone remember the first several years of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge?
The Big Ten had 11 teams and the ACC only had 9. So two Big Ten teams had to sit out every year. And one of them was always one of the upper teams. Kind of made it sting the several times the ACC won 5-4.
December 8th, 2020 at 8:03 PM ^
Look at the history of this thing:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ACC%E2%80%93Big_Ten_Challenge
If you'd bet me that the ACC would go 2-6-3 after its 10-0 start I would NOT have believed you.
December 8th, 2020 at 8:36 PM ^
The B1G has really stepped it up the last dozen years. Just need someone to win a national title. So many years of being close but losing to arguably the better team (except undefeated Illinois).
I mean, even Rutgers is ranked. And I bet the Mayor makes Nebraska respectable pretty soon.
December 8th, 2020 at 8:43 PM ^
McGowens and Breidenbach are a pretty good start for Fred. They could be quite good next year.
December 8th, 2020 at 8:55 PM ^
2H of Iowa-UNC is at a frenetic pace and fun as hell to watch.
December 8th, 2020 at 9:20 PM ^
While I don't think this UNC team is particularly well coached, it don't lack talent. This Iowa offense is ridiculous.
December 8th, 2020 at 9:28 PM ^
Garza reminds me of a less athletic Tyler Hansbrough. The NBA won’t be kind to him.
December 8th, 2020 at 9:32 PM ^
He's bigger and a better scorer. I don't see him starting, but I think he'll do well as part of a team's second 5. He's definitely not a lottery pick IMO.
December 8th, 2020 at 9:46 PM ^
Hansbrough averaged around 20 points per game for 4 years. Garza was only a scorer his final 2 years. UNC’s freshman big (number 11) is already a better NBA prospect.
December 8th, 2020 at 9:53 PM ^
I don't disagree that the UNC big is a better prospect, I'm just saying Luka should carve out a nice long career off the bench.
Tyler wasn't big enough to be the 5 and not quick enough to be a 4. Tough spot. Some great players in college don't translate.

O$U trying to lose to ND right now.
How is O$U ranked in basketball?
December 8th, 2020 at 9:43 PM ^
Damn. Ill already up 10 on Duke with FTs coming. 5 minutes in.
Duke also not looking very well coached. I think Coach K has overstayed.
December 8th, 2020 at 9:51 PM ^
With he headbands and the hair on SUNJ they look like an ABA team. Nice.
December 8th, 2020 at 10:00 PM ^
Big Ten killing it. So far anyway.
December 8th, 2020 at 10:02 PM ^
If only Purdue had held on.
December 8th, 2020 at 10:05 PM ^
I didn't even see the PSU score at the half. They're pounding VT.
And Minnie over BC? If the scores hold it's arguably the best day the B1G has had in this thing.
December 8th, 2020 at 10:03 PM ^
Pandemic adjusted. UM plays Toledo which is much better than a Covid depleted NC State. How does Kenpom make these 2020 adjustments ?
For me? I like our bench depth in The pandemic
December 8th, 2020 at 10:18 PM ^
Rutgers looks better than O$U. Their passing has been solid breaking the 'cuse zone.
December 8th, 2020 at 10:44 PM ^
Penn St will be a tough test on Sunday. They are dismantling Virginia Tech, who played Nova close recently.
December 8th, 2020 at 11:46 PM ^
They beat Villanova
December 8th, 2020 at 11:49 PM ^
Oops, yes they did. My point still stands on Penn St though
December 8th, 2020 at 10:57 PM ^
Refs trying to help Duke get back into this game
December 8th, 2020 at 11:13 PM ^
Rutgers game seems so slow. But they're hanging on to the lead.
Iffy F1 called on Rutgers for a key possession swing.
December 8th, 2020 at 11:15 PM ^
Did Bilas just say Duke should have been called for a foul?!
December 8th, 2020 at 11:29 PM ^
Hes actually said it a few times, surprisingly
December 8th, 2020 at 11:48 PM ^
Strong finish by Rutgers after 'cuse took the lead. Illinois looks real good. B1G up 6-1.
Had Purdue held on to win, the B1G would have won the challenge on day 1. I'm not sure that's ever happened. Just have to win 1 tomorrow (2 if M still gets to play NCSt).
December 8th, 2020 at 11:53 PM ^
Michigan State-Virginia game is postponed as well. I dont think Michigan and NC State will play the make up game. If MSU and Virginia don't make theirs up, it appears the. BIGTEN won this already. Best it can be at this point is 6-5.
December 9th, 2020 at 11:19 AM ^
Iowa-NC was fun indeed.
Iowa is legit, yes, BUT Coach Fran does need to push the right buttons in the second half for this team to win, in terms of getting the right guys on the court at the right time. There are some serious defensive lapses with Iowa's team (but we all knew there would be). And I think that this might cost them a few games.
That said? The offensive weapons they have are outstanding. This game was truly won in the first half, when they went 50% from 3-point land (and that figure only "sagged" to 44% overall when all was said and done). If you hit 17 3s in a game, well...you've got a good chance to beat ANYBODY.
Iowa vs. Illinois is already a game I'm looking forward to seeing.
