AZ OL Ryan Nowicki is not visiting; will remain with Penn St
Spath just posted at Rivals that AZ OL Ryan Nowicki will be staying home this weekend and will remain committed to Penn State.
Cactus coach Larry Fetkenhier said Nowicki has decided not to visit Ann Arbor this weekend and will stick with his Penn State commitment.
“This is a great kid and doesn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings, but it’s reached the point where he’s happy with his original decision,” Fetkenhier said.
This pretty much makes Jake Fisher and Chris Bryant our only remaining OL targets. Rivals seems fairly upbeat about Bryant; Fisher is more of a mystery.

Not a huge shock. Not going to flip every kid we might want this late in the game. Just means that Bryant and Fisher are that much more important for this class.

We need earth-graders in this class.

Bryant and Fisher are musts. I really hope that Hoke can get Fisher to recommit to Michigan.

I agree, Hoke needs to get Fisher - asap!

More than likely, Fisher isn't going to announce until signing day, since he has a visit this weekend. It'll be a deafening few days of silence before then. This makes him all the more important.

In a perfect world, Tom tweets later today that Fisher's decided to blow off his visit to Eugene and recommit. Don't know how likely that is though.

i think we get chris bryant. i hope fisher re-joins this class, but has anyone heard any positive news about him recently?
January 27th, 2011 at 3:49 PM ^
FWIW, He apparently wasn't big on his visit to Florida so it might be between us and Oregon, which is still a little frightening.

dammit..
nowicki looked like a throwback OL. but why not take a free trip? i mean, isn't the trip and food and flight, all paid for????
January 27th, 2011 at 3:53 PM ^
A) It's a little cold to take an unnecessary trip to AA.
B) Schools generally don't look to kindly on committed players taking visits to other schools, particularly ones in the same conference where there is a semi-rivalry
C) Maybe he's just happy with Penn State over Michigan...

Not that I know anything or have insight, but I hope maybe the staff got some good news from Fisher and isn't pushing as hard for Nowicki. A man can dream.

but im curious....
are these official visits paid for, by the University? or do the recruits pay on their own dime?
January 27th, 2011 at 4:01 PM ^
Official visits are covered by the university.

I haven't heard much on OL Pat Flavin recently. Is he solid with Illinois?
January 27th, 2011 at 4:00 PM ^
im pretty sure flavin is the plan B option for fisher or bryant.
January 27th, 2011 at 4:56 PM ^
is hoping he stays close...FWIW

I could be wrong, but I'm thinking Hoke's not looking for that type of player.
