Austin White talks about UM

Submitted by Flood on
Without impeding too much on the paywall, here's a good quote from RB Austin White about his relationship with Michigan: "It’s just hard because other places I haven’t seen yet and the places that I have… there are great coaches and great places all over. It’s tough, but right now I’d say I like Michigan the best… but it’s definitely still a hard decision to make."

Sounds like you're mad that he doesn't care about MSU. Austin White is a stud RB and I'll be glad to have him at U of M. Come on down Austin White! Come on down Dior Mathis!

God, he's a perfect fit for you guys. He would rather have Michigan lose to OSU than have MSU win a big ten title. What do you think about Stanton starting for the Lions? Any thoughts on planting flags at the 50 being disrespectful?

they had no shot at beating PSU in Happy Valley. Hey things have gotten a lot more interesting with Dantonio as coach, right? Stanton will never start for the Lions, he will probably be gone by next season. IMO Stafford is the real deal. I base this on the "Matt Ryan Factor" which is any QB that lights up State in a bowl game the previous season and gets drafted as the first QB taken will be successful. As for the planting the flag incident, that happened under the baffoon named John L. Smith.

I guess your "Matt Ryan Factor" has worked so far, and I hope it continues to be true for Stafford. Heck, I hope many QBs light MSU up in bowl games and go on to good NFL careers.

Honest question, why are you on this board? I am not meaning to run you off, which I sincerely hope you don't take it that way, but what made you come to a blog called MGoBlog and then actually sign up to comment on the board? I just don't get it.

but I hope I will not constantly have to defend myself from attacks, but rather have interesting conversation about football, and other sports. But I do realize I am in hostile territory and understand that I will be ridiculed a bit.

I can engage in meaningful and objective discussions about college and professional sports. I am not a Michigan hater, I have numerous friends that are Michigan alum and others that a just huge M fans.

The various flag planting stunts are asinine. They have become (at least for the Illinois football program) second only to felonies as a post-win celebration. What really shows the Spartans to be complete tools though is after they do it; they inevitably lose the following year, and then need to "Guard The 50" from reprisals. As if M would stoop. I know it's all symbolic and all, but I swear when teams do it to Michigan I just see a stick in a letter M. State fans look at the S and apparently see a big needy vagina.

when JLS was at MSU and the team was very undisciplined. That will never happen under Dantonio. IMO that will never happened under a RR coached team either. Keep bringing it up if you must though.

What kind of a coach "knows" that he will lose a conference game despite having a decent team and then goes ahead and tells the world and his team that he would rather see Michigan lose than have his players play a game for a BigTen CHAMPIONSHIP? "We don't have to disrespect people. I just choose to do it every chance that I get." - Dantonio

knows that his team was a heavy underdog, and had slim chance to win. So why not root for your friend and add some fire to a rivalry, that has pretty much diminished due to the fact that Michigan had been crushing MSU in recent years. Maybe now Michigan fans will embrase this rivalry instead of pass it off as the third or fourth meanful game of the season.

D'Antonio is building a solid program. Not sure how his recruiting compared to Saban's tenure at MSU. Should be interesting matchups for the next several years, but OSU-Mich will always be considered the better rivalry. Don't mind MSU posters over here as long as they aren't flaming or acting like idiots.

Do you think the conference has intentionally tried to create a rivalry between Penn State and MSU by doing the whole last game of the year thing? Has that worked at all?

doesn't happen unless BOTH teams hold up their end of the bargain. Proximity helps, but both teams have to win their share. If one team dominates the series, as UM has since the 60's, the "rivarly" tends to diminish. Thus, MSU is the third most important game on UM's schedule to OSU and ND, who both are a lot closer to .500 against UM than MSU. MSU, incidentally, is about .300 against them for the last thirty years. I would try to find results and a list and count the games up like it is so easy to do with the OSU rivalry, but I haven't been able find a comprehensive list of every MSU/UM game, and don't really care enough to spend the time neccessary to create one. MSU will never be the most important rivalry in Ann Arbor; it will always be OSU. They can become more important than ND if they start beating UM more than ND does, though. When it comes to MSU whining about UM not taking the rivalry seriously, it is a classic case of "put up or shut up."

Last year's Michigan-OSU game was irrelevant to MSU's Big 10 title chances. OSU winning meant that MSU wouldn't go to the Rose Bowl, but if Sparty had beaten PSU, they still would've been Big 10 champions. The Sparton Troll must be even dumber than I thought if he couldn't bring that up in Dantonio's defense.

Why do people automatically assume that when a kid takes his time to make a decision, it's because he's a pre-madonna that needs ass-kissing? Maybe he legitimately doesn't know?
