Austin Hatch Recovering at Home

Submitted by Raoul on

Austin Hatch was released from the hospital (presumably on Sunday) and is now recovering at home. From a Fort Wayne Journal Gazette article:

“We are extremely thankful and relieved that Austin is home with us,” Hatch’s family said Sunday in an emailed statement.

The family, however, did not say where “home” will be for Hatch . . .

. . .

According to Hatch’s family, he has recovered much since then, but they tempered expectations.

“While Austin has made great improvements, he still has obstacles to overcome as he continues to heal, grieve and acclimate to life after tragedy,” the statement said.

. . .

Hatch’s family asked that the news media and others respect his privacy, saying that he is not ready to be interviewed.

Great to hear he's out of the hospital. Best wishes for his continued recovery.

Man, this kids road to recovery is just an unbelievable story. It has got to be tough not being able to be at school with his friends. Continued thoughts and prayers go out to Austin and his family.

This story breaks my heart for the reason I have a son and can't think of him being in this position let alone twice surviving a plane crash! I just hope that Michigan does the right thing and honors his schoalarship and brings him into the Michigan family. Austin, mine and my family's thought's are with you, Get well soon! And remember Go Blue!!

This is just an incredible story, I hope the media and press follows the requests of the family and allows the family to come talk when they are ready. As it appears they will do when the time is right

My prayers and thoughts are with them.
