Article about Semaj Morgan's Foundation

I realize that a number of the players are involved in the communities around Ann Arbor, and saw that Blake Corum was recognized nationally before the Texas-Washington game for giving away hundreds of turkeys in Ypsilanti. Anyway, I came across this story about Semaj Morgan who has his own foundation, and partnering with Will Johnson gave away over 1000 toys in Detroit this year. My 19-year-old self certainly wasn't that selfless. Anyway, besides being a great team, this also seems a like a team full of great guys.

This is a great thing, and Morgan seems like a neat kid. But--I can tell you from experience--every agent is telling every promising player in America that they need to get something like this going early nowadays. Across all sports. Sometimes it saves on taxes; it's why every rich person has their own charity.

He can handle it. You can handle it. If it's cosmetic and everyone does it, simply fawning, knee-jerk fashion, may not be the call. Feel free, though. If the kids in the D--where I was born, Henry Ford Hospital--are drowning in toys but there are no jobs, then you question people building their rep on gullible, fawning people. Some of us come here to think. Semaj is a bright kid; he can think, too. We're not all so fragile that we can't be questioned.

Sooo “fawning” over what Blake does with BC2 at Thanksgiving is not the thing to do either huh? Get outta here with that. These kids have proven that they have a heart to help the community and now have the means to do so in college with NIL money. It’s honestly pretty cool they get to lay the foundation for something like this now in college vs having to wait to get drafted into the NFL, which is not guaranteed.

No mention of an agent in the article.

They do have a nice quote from Semaj’s mom Erika about how she was the recipient of toy drives growing up on Detroit’s east side. Must be pretty special to see your son giving away toys, and pizza to 1,028 kids from the east side of Detroit. Especially when you were once one of those kids.
