"Apple TV+ is emerging as a potential landing spot for Pac-12 college football rights"

Apple is making a move for more sports. They lost out on Sunday Ticket. But now are trying to get the Pac-12 football. Though it looks like it's going to be very difficult for them to do, as streaming is not used by enough college sports fans. TV is still the major mode of choice.

"A Pac-12 spokesman and an Apple spokeswoman both declined comment."

Losing USC and UCLA has turned the Pac-12 on its head. Will it land on its feet? Can the Pac-12 hold on to Washington and Oregon? Maybe the new big boss of the BIG10, Tony Petitti, will have something to say about that.

Pulling up a tweet from February?  This is old news at this point.  So many different providers have "emerged" as the landing spot for the Pac12 since February.  ESPN, Amazon, Ion, CW, USA.  Apple may still be a landing spot, but at this point only those within the negotiations really know as so many rumors have been thrown around about this.

Colorado is rumored to be leaving here in the last couple days; reputable insiders like Bruce Feldman confirming the rumor is interesting.  Could be another summer of massive movement.

Not just Apple TV, it’s Apple TV+ (don’t forget the plus sign).

Or, CW….  Hmmmm. What a decision.

This is probably a reflection of the fan bases and interest in college football in the PAC-12 footprint, which has been discussed in other threads.

I don’t know how the Power Five conferences would “rank” by interest level, media following, fan bases, attendance, etc.  My guess is.. the B1G and SEC are 1 and 2.  The Big 12  and ACC are 3 and 4.  The PAC-12 wraps it up - solidly in fifth place.

Of the remaining PAC-12 teams, I think Oregon and Washington are the outliers in terms of fan support - and, Utah’s not too far behind them.

I don't know how they'll do with football but Apple's baseball broadcast may be the worst sports coverage I've ever seen.

I saw an Oriole's game and they used the Baltimore announcers.  When the O's were at the plate they interviewed Gunner Henderson full screen the entire 3rd inning, with a small inset of the game. Men on base? - so! A game going on? - who cares.

For the 4th inning they did the same thing.  It was the Gunner Henderson show that they happened to shoot at a baseball ball game.

Twitter went ballistic. Even Baltimore fans were losing it.

No thanks.

Apple TV+ had it right in going after NFL Sunday Ticket.  They lost, but you have to go for the BIGGEST property possible to make an impact, much like FOX TV did in 1994.

Pac-12 games will be like the MLB package they bought - it won't move the needle for them at all.

I know no one here really cares about this but that could be huge in terms of drawing viewers to Major League Soccer who is already on AppleTV
