AAG&O already closed for Sat. Park-n-Party passes canceled too.

Just received this email:

"You are receiving this message because you have a Park n Party reservation at the Ann Arbor Golf & Outing Club for this weekend's Wisconsin game.

Unfortunately, due to the torrential rains this past Saturday, the Golf Course will be unable to park cars on 10/13/18.

As a result, we will be refunding your reservation. We recommend that you make another reservation as soon as possible as parking will be extremely tight this weekend.

You may want to consider such locations at 2100 Club and Fingerle Lumber. Currently, Pioneer High School reservations are sold out. We are trying to secure more spaces.

Our call volume is very high right now. The best way to reach is either by email ([email protected]) or via our newly available Live Chat feature.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.

Taylor"

Just to be clear, are they saying that the rain soaked the grounds so much that they will not be properly drained by Saturday? Or is the weather supposed to be shit again this weekend?

Michigan got a lot of rain this weekend, on grounds that were already almost saturated.  Like, I planted some grass seed last Tuesday, and it is already like "full grass."  There are thunderstorms in forecast through Thursday of this week as well.

Definitely, the ground is pretty soft right now.  On Saturday, the grass areas of Pioneer really took a beating, and they had to put down a lot of straw.  Unless the next few warm days dry things out, it's liable to be just as bad this weekend - especially if we get that rain.  Parking on the side streets will be at a premium.  So, my advice is for people to get here early to park.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha those f***ing people are the worst.  I’m so glad I switched away from using them this year.  I’m 1000% less stressed for game days without their total incompetence.

Gotta protect that 9 hole golf course from damage from the rain........... /s

I park at a private residence off of State St. north of Stadium.  It takes a little bit of pre-planning but it is cheaper and I can show up at the time I want to, and I don’t have to worry about the attitudes of the AAGO staff, or them holding my money and not letting me park.

HAHA.  One of my closest dear departed friend's son got married to a buckeye many years ago. In Chicago. It was ALSO a Wisconsin home game, and we tailgated at your house that day, foregoing the wedding. He was the founder of the Rum and Coke tradition. I know you remember Randy.  We beat Wisconsin that day, but part of me regrets not going to the wedding, given what happened many years later. Enjoy the day, Zoltan!  See you Nov.3.

I mean, it sucks, but they're first and foremost a golf course, which has insane upkeep. It always amazes me that they keep those courses in such good condition with thousands of vehicles parking on them seven Saturdays a year. Also, the course damage doesn't come from the rain, it comes from driving a two-ton pickup with an RV hitched to the back on a sopping wet fairway. Not to mention, would you rather they emailed people on Saturday morning when it turns out the course is too wet to tailgate on instead of letting them know five days in advance? Really not sure what you expect here.

I guess I’m skeptical that they make the majority of their money on golfers, but what the hell do I know?  I just know that they are poorly managed when they are open, and jerk people around regularly.  I decided I was done with that at $50+ per week.

Edit:  Your point is well made about vehicles being the reason the course gets torn up.  I’m still salty about the way they handled the Minnesota game last year.  It appears that they’re trying to give people more time this year, but their policies are still awful.

I got a similar email. I was thinking about going to Pioneer and lining up at 11AM. Park-n-Party may be sold out, but I believe they save majority for day of sales.

Sometimes the whole weekend revolves around the tailgate and having a spot for other people relying on one person. I'm always that one person. So stressful.

Are park and party passes required now for the golf course and pioneer? Or do they just guarantee you a spot? I haven't been down there in 2 years so i'm not sure if anything has changed. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

For Pioneer the park n party just guarantees you a spot.  They will probably still have cash sales on Saturday but it will be full a lot quicker with the golf courses closed.

When our group decided to leave the blue lot we were considering the golf course but got a reserved tailgate spot at Pioneer instead which has turned out to be a great decision.  No stress on gamedays as we have our three car spots in the same spot to set up our tailgate every week no matter what time we show up.

Park-n-Party is a broker of parking spaces.  They charge an uptick for their services.  Gets you a spot in advance of game day.  AAGOC for example allows PnP to sell a set number of prepaid passes.  Unfortunately they cannot be honored if the course is closed so an early warning helps them relocate. Not required at the golf courses or Pioneer.

It usually depends on how long the line gets, and how much before 12.  I’ve seen them come thru and break up the line at 11:15 or so, and I’ve seen them let it go earlier to the opening time.  I’ve waited and let the line clear and driven right in also.  The parking situation will be ok if UofM’s course is open, but losing any parking capacity is a problem as we all know.

Question: Will the U-M Golf Course be closed, as well? This isn't updated yet to reflect the AAG&O closing, but:

Oct. 13 Night Game vs. Wisconsin

All University of Michigan game day parking lots, both permit and public, will open at noon for the Wisconsin game (7:30 p.m. kickoff). The U-M Golf Course, Pioneer High School and Ann Arbor Golf & Outing will also open to the public at noon.

I've reserved at Fingerle Lumber for car and RV parking for my one game/year the past few years and love it. Great location, lots of portajohns and they are flexible on arriving and leaving. I'll be there for the Penn State game.

AAGOC is bar none the best tailgate location.  Appears hennegivensunday is all about crying.  All season pass holders go in knowing that if the golf course is closed as it was last year for the Minnesota game there are no refunds. Had vehicles been allowed that game they would still be digging them out.  The risk of a season pass is possible closure. It doesn’t happen often.  Henne...get over it and I am glad your crybaby butt is not parked near me.
