30 for 30 When the Garden was Eden and there was Cazzie

Alot of Cazzie on last night's 30-for-30. He was one of the best....1965 College Player of the Year; drafted #1 by the Knicks in 1966. All-Rookie team his first season - averaged 16.9 points that first year and 18.3 his second year. Won a World Championship in '69-70.

Loved the 30 for 30 last night. Really interesting how those players from the Knicks in the early 70s went on and became notable people later on like Bradley (1 heart problem away from the Dem Nomination in 2000), Jackson, Lucas etc...

Red Holzman for whatever reason is one of the most underappreciated coaches in NBA history.  Knick/NBA fans from that era certainly know all about him but I think in general he just isn't that well known.  He didn't project a huge ego or call a lot of attention to himself, but he knew how to coach.

Sorry I missed the 30 for 30 on Cazzie, I'll have to catch it on the rebound. I am old enough to remember Cazzie playing on our B&W TV at Yost. I was in elementary school and was such a big fan of Cazzie I took a blue magic marker and a white t-shirt and made my own Cazzie jersey! Michigan 33. It did not really come out too well, not centered, not straight. My Mom was not pleased either. Oh well, what was I to do, you could not buy a jersey back then.

Thanks Cazzie for starting me on my life long passion!

Ah baby.  Getting to go to Yost for a game back then was quite a treat!  Getting a ticket when Cazzie was there was very tough (OK - so I was 8 but still ..).  They used those loonngg standards to hold the backboards, raised floor (kinda like the Barn @ Minny) ... just an awesome sight.  In warm up they would do dunks where the crowd would count them off ... pretty funny when the 6ft guard couldn't come close ...   Cazzie, Bill Buntin, Oliver Darden, "Trigger" Tregoning and Bobby Cantrel .... there are just some things you seem to never forget from your childhood!

Go Blue!

I haven't seen it but I hope they discuss the legendary Michigan game at the Garden. A young Lew Alcindor attended and said it was a life-altering game to watch.
