baseball & hoops....you're next.

Michigan Stadium now holds the U.S. attendance record for football, hockey, and soccer competitions.

Somewhere in an executive athletic suite, Brandon pours a glass of bourbon and lights a cigar, smirking and kicking his legs up on the desk.

To answer your question, no, a once every four years event doesn't make the sport major, ask the Winter Olympics.  It is trending in the right direction but I don't think it is there yet.

I don't know much about Nascar, but I do know that a handful of the major speedways unfortunately make the Big House look quite puny. I think the one in Indy has a capacity of like 250k...

that Chicago's Soldier Field claims:

The all-time collegiate attendance record of 123,000 plus was established November 26, 1927, as Notre Dame beat the University of Southern California 7–6.

This was, of course, before the spaceship landed and made the stadium the third smallest in the NFL.  And it looks like they don't have official records to give an exact attendance.

If we can put a hockey rink into the stadium, there's no reason why we couldn't make basketball either. I vote for an Under-the-lights ACC matchup like Duke. They bring huge crowds, we have subs, this could be epic.

That Football claim will be in jeopardy in 2016.  Tennessee and Virginia Tech play at Bristol Motor Speedway - capacity of 160,000.

I wonder what Dave Brandon has planned to counter this?
