2022 S D'Arco Perkins-McAllister, profile. Is the battle for him over?

Now that a crystal ball from a very reputable crystal ball-er is in for D'Arco Perkins-McAllister to Michigan I looked into him a little. The more I looked the more I got an uncertain feeling his choice of where to go was over. Though certainly, Steve Wiltfong has an  excellent track record:

Here is some profile on D'Arco Perkins-McAllister:

His 40 time, if it's correct here, is very impressive:

Here's some video on him. Has a solid body, hits hard. Loves the pick--will make QBs that don't pay enough attention to the safety pay. Can tackle well in the open field.

So now onto why I'm not feeling certain. I found Rivals has him 100% to LSU:

And his "Final 7" from April 2 doesn't even have Michigan in it:

And here, in this interview, he talks about all the new offers that keep coming in, and how he's overwhelmed:

The dust still isn't settling for him. Everything is still a blur. And offers haven't stopped. The crystal ball from Wiltfong shows he has changed from his "Final 7". Things could change again.

Here's the current list of offers:

The National Letter of Intent signing dates are still a long way off:

A lot can happen between now and then. And, as the NCAA football world is seeing, even when that letter is signed things can change.

I have a huge amount of respect for Steve Wiltfong. He is right with his predictions way more often than he is wrong. It seems the landscape of recruiting has changed pretty quickly in recent years.

I really like how D'Arco Perkins-McAllister plays. And I like the changes I see happening in Michigan's defense. D Line and LB play was weak last year. I don't even know where LB play went. Up until last season LBs had the most exciting thing on Michigan's defense the past few seasons. It's looks like Michigan is headed toward a bigger, faster, and more physical defense. Perkins-McAllister is a physical player. He would fit in with the direction it seems Michigan Defense is going. I hope Steve Wiltfong is right. Odds are that he is right.

I hope D'Arco Perkins-McAllister is playing at Michigan!

GO BLUE!!

“So now onto why I'm not feeling certain. I found Rivals has him 100% to LSU”

Yeah, so he’s “100% to LSU,” because there’s 1 futurecast prediction in for him currently... from February... from some guy named Sam Spiegelman who has an 81% accuracy rate.

So while this kid may not end up at Michigan in the end, I’d think the recent crystal balls from reputable sources outweighs a four month old prediction by some random regional recruiting analyst that doesn’t even cover this kid’s home state. So not really sure why that one old prediction or a two month old top 7 would concern you in the face of more recent information.

Concern that there’s a long way to go is legitimate. Concern because of what the tea leaves said a few months ago, irrelevant

This is exactly why I don’t follow a player’s career until their name is on the back of a Michigan jersey.

I knew it was a post by the Creatures of Ezekiel even before finishing reading the title.

His OP's are easier to spot than the thread titles of anyone I can think of other than WD and XM.

So TL;DR:

you aren’t sure if an early crystal ball (meant to be nothing more than a best guess) from a single analyst on a single site is an ironclad guarantee that a highly rated and much sought after kid will commit, stick with a commitment, and enroll, all with several months still before the early signing date.

well…..I’m not either? Because why would you be?

this post clearly took some time and effort to draft up but like….wut?

You’ll be happier if you just do what I do: assume that it’s very unlikely an elite-level kid from below the Mason-Dixon line will enroll at Michigan. If he does, it’s a nice surprise. If he doesn’t, you didn’t spend any time torturing yourself with what-if scenarios.

This post is genius and anyone who doesn't understand tongue in cheek optimism can go learn how to embed things half as well and write a rebuttal that's as well-prepared as this. Bravo.
