2018 OG Marquan McCall to Kentucky
Oak Park (MI) Oak Park offensive guard Marquan McCall committed to Kentucky. He's a 4-star, the #4 offensive guard, and #111 overall. I have doubts about whether this commitment will stick, but for now, he's off the board.
Kentucky....The new Ole Miss.
They supply the girlfriends like their friends do up at Louisville...
We thought Craig James went to SMU because his girl went there. In the end it was because there were killable hookers(allegedly).
Well a story posted here yesterday said he visited his Grandmother while in Lexington...so there is a connection there.
I'm still hoping someday we'll get more info on why this very highly rated player was never a priority for Michigan, and why "whispers" about his commitment not just to KY is questioned, but to playing football at all.
Magnus, whenever you're ready...
You express doubts this commitment will stick, but you've consistently been skeptical he'd end up (Maize &) Blue. Sup with that?
As someone who lives in KY I can tell you that %99 of the people that live here have no idea that college football is even a sport.
And the other %1 doesn't know how to use a percent symbol.
Which reminds me, if you're American and you write 20$ instead of $20, first thing tomorrow morning I'm gonig to punch you in the back of the head.
That is the only thing that I can possibly think of. I know SEC schools will let you in if you can convert oxygen into carbon dioxide, but unless there is something that Michigan thinks is fishy, there is no human in their right mind that would choose Kentucky over Michigan for any reason. Well, except for that supplying girlfriends as needed (I know I am lumping them with Louisville, but it is the same state)
There's a long road ahead...
Im curious. I keep seeing people say "It didnt seem like Michigan was recruiting him hard"
How would you guys even know if Michigan was recruiting him hard or not?
Insider reports. His is a name that we have heard next to nothing about despite the fact that he's the #1 player in the state, that kind of says it all.
I think a lot of it comes from the fact none of the other big-name programs in the conference/region seemed to be in play. OSU didn't even offer, per 247. And MSU, a team currently ranked 9th in the conference in recruiting, with no offensive line recruits in this class and only 4 last year, didn't seem all that interested in him either.
I don't wish the kid any harm, and hopefully he has success at UK. But it's hard to imagine this kid had his heart set on playing for the 3rd or 4th best team in the SEC East.
He must be an academic nightmare and not an elite prospect. If he's a five star he lands somewhere besides Kentucky, even if he can't spell his own name.
no, Coach Cal do not take anything but 5 star recruits
It seems they aren't even in the discussion on top in-state prospects that M isn't pursuing.
Not true, they hace an excellent shot with the 23 - 32 ranked recruits.
/did I do that right???
that is still waaaaaaaaay to high
unless you meant 23rd-32nd best in the state
Best of luck to him wherever he ends up - except when he plays M.
Because he can start four years as long as he doesn't get hurt. Now where can we find a great left tackle to recruit?
If Harbaugh makes a push for him in December or January, I doubt he would stay with Kentucky.
That whole "ESS EE SEE" thing doesn't really work here in KY. I mean, because no one here cares about football. I don't doubt for one second that it happens with UK basketball, or any other SEC teams football. I just dont buy it with UK football.
Hoke cooled on him....
Well, I guess the blue balls from earlier today were indeed indicative of something, except it wasn't normally the sort of thing that blue balls might normally....well....indicate.
Of course, it's 2018, which a) makes me feel old, and b) makes me wonder if - like a fair number of commitments this far out - it doesn't change at some point.
I would think his self esteem is high enough that he wouldn't choose Kentucky. At least go to a Wisconsin or something.
I am fine with it! I only want kids that want to be Michigan Wolverines! Plenty of other fish in the sea.
What an amazing world we would live in if the path every child chose was, "The greatest and best done the RIGHT way."
He said Iowa St Michigan Kentucky Tennessee were his final schools...When asked why commit now? He said everyone was coming at him and he had to do something...i Wish this guy the best but I see a decommitment before signing day
