2018 DE Micah Parsons (#3 overall recruit) includes Michigan in his "Top 9"

Submitted by BoFlex on

Consensus 5* DE Micah Parsons tweeted out a graphic of his "Top 9 (7? lol)" schools:

  1. Michigan
  2. Ohio State
  3. Penn State
  4. Nebraska
  5. Alabama
  6. Georgia
  7. Florida
  8. Florida State
  9. Miami

These are the school I will be looking more closely into. @Hayesfawcett3 #blessed #top7 pic.twitter.com/dU1uFxnzi4

Parsons originally commited to Penn State in February 2016, but de-committed back in late April 2017. Since then, Ohio State has been the projected favorite by recruitniks, but hey it isn't over until the ink hits the paper. It is nice to at least make the "Top 9."

I haven't seen any great news out there for the good guys on this one. Lots of time left though and believe I read somewhere that he knows Khaleke. Appreciate the linking diligence, BoFlex.

He's pretty much all Ohio State. Gene Hankerson on twitter indictaed UM hasn't put the work in on this one. Zordich is responsible for recruiting PA I believe. BTW, if OSU signs Bosa, Young, Parsons, and Harrison in back to back to back to back recruiting cycles I'm going to be sick.

I can't remember the last time OSU had a bad or poor class in the online rankings era. Can you?

If anything, OSU has outperformed us nearly every year (which is in part a reflection of Ohio's strong in-state talent).

But the gap between Michigan and Ohio State isn't large.

The lop-sided loss at home in 2015 was due to 2 things:

1. Losing Bryan Mone and Ryan Glasgow. This was a painful reminder of how DTs/NTs have the most thankless job in football. Fans don't realize their importance until their absence allows an opponent to rack up rushing yards.

2. Durkin's horrible gameplan.

The 2016 loss on the road demonstrated that we featured a dominant defense (thanks in part to a very experienced, rugged players) but lacked an equally strong (re:elite) offense.

We need to build a dominant OL and find an explosive, workhorse RB.

Not just dominate but nasty. We need five Taylor Lewan's on our o-line. Don't just block them...hurt them. This team has been defined by the defensive line for to long. When we can walk off the bus with the most intimidating and dangerous o-line in the big ten then we will have osu's number. Lewan used to pull the best d-ends off there square every game because he was nasty. Listening to Jon Jansen speak on Braden. Saying he was just concerned about his job. Basically he was saying he needs to be nastier. Peel off your block and smash a way smaller linebacker. Kalis was nasty just not all that good. When I see the defense wanting to fight due to frustration of us just pouding them then we will be complete. Osu knows they have to out recruit us or they will lose because we have the better on field coach and coaches. I do question the number of five star recruits streaming into columbus ohio especially from way out in california. Harbaugh is the best coach in college football and any nfl team will tell you that, but meyer still seems to be to some extent the bigger attraction and that baffles me. He's had by far the most talent in the big ten but hasn't even won the east in three years and just got completely embarassed on national t.v. 31-0 but five star kids from texas and california still want to travel across the u.s. to play in columbus ohio. I'm sorry but there is a lot more to their recruiting than that white hair clown running around and swooning recruits. Michigan is doing well in recruiting, but with a coach like Harbaugh I feel should be doing better and it is time to step it up with recruits like Parsons

Meyer is a formidable opponent. He has won a few NC's, he produces NFL talent, He's taken Bama to the wood shed and he also went undefeated the year they were bowl ineligible. Saban, Meyer and Harbaugh are the top 3 coaches in CFB. We have to be able to get as many of the top 50 super 5* players that they get every year. I admit we are closing the gap fast but the only way we catch them is beat them consistently on the field, which might be difficult because they keep reloading 5* players. The other way is to hire a super recruiter that players and parents love, to compete against Larry Johnson, Vince Morrow and the Kirby Smarts.

Or get out the checkbook and lower admissions standards. I know we love to apologize for it and act like it's sour grapes to call that out but it's not: as long as we stay clean we're never going to be Bama or OSU and that's fine.

We don't have to cheat, we can pay the best coaches. We went out and got the #1 Defensive Coordinator in College a year ago. We need to go and get the best recruiter and hire him to close the deal on these big-time 5* recruits. Any names come to mind? T Martin, Frank Wilson, Mario Cristobal, I know Partridge is doing well but the competition has 2 or 3 recruiters doing well.

But to say you don't understand why they are getting so many 5*s is ridiculous. What team has produced more NFL draft picks the last 2-3 years. And who has produced more 1st and 2nd round picks? Only team that is close is Bama and they aren't exactly struggling in recruiting either. The multiple playoffs and National Champion doesn't hurt either. Give Harbaugh a couple years of top 5 classes and we will be right there.

There is no solace to take here.  A loss is a loss.  This is the exact reason I was so pissed about last years game and also when we lost by 1 after missing the 2 pt conversion.  We got robbed (literally) last year and as time goes by, people will forget about all of it except for the fact that we lost.

Larry Johnson Sr. has an embarassment of riches in his DE rotation right now: Sam Hubbard, Nick Bosa, Jalyn Holmes, Chase Young, and Tyquan Lewis. Their D-Line is going to be a problem if Johnson can figure out the defensive tackle situation over there.

This is why the loss of Wheatley hurts. He was actually the type of recruiter that kids and their families found a connection to. Moreover, he could go toe to toe with the best in the country (Johnson, Morrow etc) and win the big recruiting battles. Nothing against the other coaches but Wheatley had the Midas touch and if he had stayed, we would have flipped Najee Harris. I hope they consider hiring someone these recruits can see has been there, has won, and has a charisma that they can't say no to. I think that Bush Sr. could be that type of recruiter for us if given an opportunity. He's young, won as a player in college, won in the NFL, success as a H.S. Coach and I think many of these high level recruits would be excited to learn and play for him. Whatever route we go with this coaching addition, I hope that not only can he develop talent, he has that "it factor" that recruits and their families can't say no to. If we hire someone without that, we would have to consistently win games against Bama and OSU to gain a recruiting edge, which may be difficult as they get the most top 50 kids every year.

Awesome but Im concerned with his counting ability. First he called it a Top 7. Then when someone pointed it out as a Top 9 he argued it was a Top 8 until he finally realized it was 9.

Maybe he's hinting that Penn State has no chance anymore hes just being courteous by listing them there so it is technically a Top 8+Penn State.

Probably going to be a Buckeye. A few months ago, while committed to PSU, he adopted a puppy and named him Brutus. That doesn't guarantee anything but it's pretty telling about which way he's leaning.
