2 Michigan Players Named to PFF Team of the Week

Quarterback

Shea Patterson, Michigan

It didn't matter the direction, depth or type of coverage that Patterson was throwing into against Indiana on Saturday, he was simply lights out after falling behind 7-14 against a much better Hoosiers team than most give credit for. Patterson threw for 371 yards and five touchdowns, hitting all five touchdowns on throws targeted at least 10 yards past the line of scrimmage. He has his Wolverines team rolling into their annual showdown with Ohio State, reaching highs that we haven't seen from him this year at the very right time.

Wide Receiver

Nico Collins, Michigan

Benefiting from his quarterback's best performance of the season, Collins hauled in six catches for 165 yards and three scores, securing 78 of those yards after the catch. He was stellar on deep shots, catching 2-of-3 passes targeted at least 20 yards downfield for 43 yards and two touchdowns while he caught 100% of his targets in between the numbers, finishing with a 3-for-3, 124 yards and two touchdown stat line on passes over the middle of the field.

Patterson sucks he missed two guys wide open bench him. Steven Threet was better. Gattis sucks I play madden 99 and I know how to call plays. If I were calling plays Michigan would score 900 points a game.

Outstanding!

I've been critical of Shea this year, repeatedly saying that he always leaves deep balls short and never hits anyone in stride.  Saturday, he completely reversed that trend - his deep balls lead the receivers, allowing catches in full stride.  Collins, DPJ, Bell, and Sainristil were able to just outrun DBs after the catch.  His inside passes were simply beautiful - in stride, numbers high, and very well timed.  I happily ate my words Saturday, and will be just as happy to bake up some more crow this coming Saturday!  An excellent performance that needs to be maintained!

And like everyone else, I wonder how it possibly took this long to get Collins/Black/DPJ to 100 yd game.  Nonetheless, the next step comes this week - two of the three get 100+ yards and multiple TDs!  Congrats Nico, you earned the PFF honor!!

It is good to see Shea get past his (or Harbaugh's) pathological aversion to failure-and give his receivers a shot at making the play. Next Saturday will require more of the same. Go Blue!

The speed of our WRs really showed this week. That long TD from Collins was beautiful. The route combos being used seem to be working wonderfully and are getting defenses confused/out of position. Everybody looks comfortable in what they're doing. OSU I'm sure will be well coached, but all of our WRs are a threat on every play. Hopefully shea gets time to find our WRs this week. Can't wait to head to Ann Arbor on Saturday for my first OSU game in quite a while!

My first thought was, DPJ had over 100 vs MSU last year and then I remembered, nope, no he didn't.  One catch for 79 yards and an epic Paul Bunyan pose. That was it and it was enough.

I'm happy to eat my words about Shea.....he's looking like one of the best QBs in the Big Ten and he's become an asset for us. I wish we had him for another year!!

Stock way up on the offensive game plan as well. Hopefully we can meld the run game concepts from ND with the speed-in-space and deep shot passing game from the last couple weeks. Under an aggressive mindset, that kind of O can hang with OSU.
