You ask these questions like they're unanswerable. They're not. But I don't know the answers. There's already a market and if I was bagman I'd know the going rate.

I really don't get how people keep acting like paying any players is unfair because some will get more than others. 1st, it's already happening. 2nd, that is an extreme view that almost no one here would think applies to any other economic activity.

Should've been paid to a QB.

You want to talk about the one thing that has consistently held LSU back from being as good as Alabama every year? It's QBs. They can have as many elite WRs, RBs, and OL players as they want. What QB has rolled through LSU in the last 10+ years and been anything better than average?

If you're a booster and you're gonna pay a player/player's parent, maybe don't use money you embezzled from a charity

According to the Baton Rouge Business Report, John Paul Funes pleaded guilty this week to embezzling anywhere between half a million and $800,000 from a local charity, Our Lady of the Lake Foundation (OLOL). While that would not normally crossover into the realm of athletics, Funes apparently directed some $180,000 to James Alexander, who is the father of former Tigers offensive lineman Vadal Alexander

For anyone who has spent time in Louisiana and New Orleans, you can just feel the corruption in the air. It has a similar feel to Latin America in many respects. They are just operating in a different era down there, and fighting very hard to keep it that way.

In all seriousness, why not take the money? I guess the IRS could find out but what is the NCAA going to do after the fact? You will have to deal with your teammates but if I am being honest I would want 180k as a high school football player.

Please send any extra money to me if you are so inclined.

I guess you could say the same thing about Daxton Hill, right?

If schools are paying that much money for a recruit, then there’s most likely an extremely limited pool of players that are highly rated and don’t want the money. Since Michigan regularly signs a top ten class,  we are either paying players too or we get almost every single recruit we want out of the limited pool. If the second part is true, on a level playing field we could expect every player we sign to be a top 100 player.

I believe that recruits getting paid probably doesn’t happen as much as we think or we are doing it too.

I think Michigan both pays players (a little) and goes after the ones who aren't looking for money. Stanford isn't paying for all those players who Michigan goes after and loses to them.

They make a Billion $$$ on the NCAA basketball tourney every year.  Apparently baseball makes millions each year.  Combine those two, and you might come close to football revenue.  The NCAA brass doesn't give one shit about this.  The only thing they care about is what kind of farcical statement they can make while maintaining a straight face.
