1 year of Harbaugh Posbang

Submitted by YoungGeezy on
Today marks the one-year Harbaverssary of the day we found out the Angry Michigan Football Hating God was finally moving on so we could rebuild once again. Despite a less than perfect season this year, I think we'll all happily take 9 wins in a NYD Bowl Game. Other than Harbaugh's return to AA (http://mgoblog.com/content/harbaugh-michigan), what's your favorite Harbaugh moment over the past year?

Presser where he was introduced as our coach.

"What are you expectations for the team next year?"

Harbs "Just getting started with the first meeting.  First practice and finding out what the players expectations are.  What their intent is.  What our teams intent is going to be.  You gotta be willing to work for that"

^Going from memory so not an exact quote, but you knew things were going to change.

I absolutely LOVED Harbaugh's press conferences and the way he handled the media.   The man will not suffer fools and that lesson was learned quickly by the press.

It was also nice not being embarrassed anymore by how our HC sounded when he spoke.

"Did anybody see that? A lesser athlete would have gone down." First thing that came to mind, absolutely hilarious.

For all the grief that he gets for being aloof, you compare this with the Cowherd interview and it goes to show just how much he knows how to handle people.  Sometimes it is to entertain (i.e. recruiting), sometimes to motivate and sometimes to get under people's skin.  Glad he's ours!!!

Definitely this comment, "...a lesser athlete would have gone down." As the opening comment on his first presser, it reached back to Bo telling everyone that part of Bo was back, showed the enthusiasm and joy at being home, that it was time to have fun, to enjoy UM football as it was enjoyed for so many years yet again.

I can't believe a whole year has gone by - it was gone so quickly. Can't wait for each new moment and event, from the bowl game to national letter signing day to spring practice to another season of hope and great expectations!

Very soon, you just wait.  Ah, who am I kidding.  I think he'll be here a while.  He's got the fan base...  He's got the administration... and the team's support.  Thanks to the yahoos in SF for giving him a sour taste of an NFL organization.  I really can't see him leaving for anything other than retirement.

With both Rich Rod and Brady Hoke (especially) I know I did and I bet others to an extent did as well, I had to convince myself that the man at the podium could do for Michigan what we all wanted him to do.  I had to convince myself that I could deal with some growing pains before Michigan became what WVU was offensively.  I had to convince myself that a mediocre coach could win at Michigan just because he loved the school, didn't need a map, could sing "The Victors" and so on and so forth.

When Hackett introduced Harbaugh, it was nice to be able to just sit back and smile.

I love his emotion on the sidelines; I'd have LOVED to have played for him.  And I thought he handed the MSU debacle very well.  But my favorite coaching moment is whatever he said and whenever he said it to Rudock that caused that kid's head to pop out of his ass and start looking like a legitimate QB who could win games.  The Rudock turnaround may have been even more impressive than 5-7 to 9-3.

Indeed, yes. Happy anniversary to the program and the fanbase!

It really was a moment of happiness for me as it was for everyon else here, but I will say that from a mod standpoint, it was the first time since - oh, maybe the 2013 PSU game - that the Defcon level on the blog had finally been above, say, three. Also, it meant no more CC threads since the ultimate CC had been achieved, so I was happy about that too.

I noticed JUB was tweeting about it the other day. I'll never forget the night he tweeted out that it was a done deal and Jimmy was coming home. That's the first time I believed.

The throwing of the headphones and ripping off the puff jacket with the enthusiasm unknown to mankind! The worms with machine guns is quite entertaining as well.

MGoHoliday?

I hereby decree Dec 28 to be declared an MGoHoliday.   Tell your bosses you won't be showing up for work.  Wear your cheapest pair of pleated khakis.  Grill enormous steaks on the grill and wash them down with milk.   This is a glorious day that must be celebrated appropriately.

For me, it was realizing I could love Harbaugh as UM's coach with a clean conscience. Before the hire, I was believing some of the spin that he was an asshole who won at any costs and who just pissed everyone off. Not sure I wanted that for my alma mater. After seeing him in action, though, I love the way he is unapologetically himself, which I find inspiring. I actually kind of like him now. HARBAUGH!!!

Has begun quicker than I anticipated. Thankfully he came back to restore us to where we belong. I'm just happy to be watching a team with heart and passion again, competing, etc. I cringe to think if we kept the last staff for year 5, what I'd feel like right now

He had me at the introductory press conference when he talked about Homecoming and when he simply and earnestly said "I want to do a good job."

"I want to do a good job. I want to be good. I want to win on the practice field, the classroom and the community. We want to win on fall Saturday afternoons, and we have great expectations for that. We'll have great expectations for the first team meeting and the first week of winter conditioning. I can't wait"

Contrast to the "win dirty" threads about basketball and back to previous threads asking if anyone wanted to win at any cost, how amazing is it not to just hear these words (so many coaches can talk the talk), but know that Harbaugh BELIEVES these words? He truly believes in honest competition, battling with the best to be the best, competing with honor in everything he does. Makes me proud to say I'm a fan!

"I'm at that point where even though you've done well and built some pretty nice homes, you have to do it again and you have to prove it again.  But I would really like to live in one permanently.  That's what I'm very hopeful for here."

I don't know if I have a favorite singular moment, but watching Harbaugh go apeshit on the sidelines to defend his team, along with bringing some dignity back to this program was pretty great.

Beating the teams we're supposed to beat was pretty great. Don't know why, but putting Rutgers in particular in its place this year was just so awesome.

It's hard to believe that it has been a year already. Especially since the first 9 months went excruciatingly slow as we waited for the season, living off bits of info. The moments when his hire went from long shot to reality are ones I won't soon forget.

I love Harbaugh... he's seemingly the closest thing to the reincarnation of Bo possible on the Earth.

Throwing the folder & pulling the hat down over his ears & tearing off his coat

~ things legends are made of.

Harbaugh, I beseech you to coach for 20+ years and then become the Athletic Director....

...bang, bang.
