So your gonna' tell me that you don't have no black cats, no roman candles, or screaming mimis? Kicking Wing: No. Joe Dirt: Oh come on man. You got no lady fingers, fuzz buttles, snicker bombs, church burners, finger blasters, gut busters, zippity do das, or crap flappers? Kicking Wing: No, I don't. Joe Dirt: You're gonna stand there, owning a fireworks stand, and tell me you don't have no whistling bungholes, no spleen spliters, whisker biscuits, honkey lighters, hoosker doos, hoosker donts, cherry bombs, nipsy daisers, with or without the scooter stick, or one single whistling kitty chaser? Kicking Wing: No... because snakes and sparklers are the only ones I like. Joe Dirt: Well that might be your problem, it's not what you like, it's the consumer. This is just a snake or sparkler, at best.

This must be Double Secret Probation for violations that occurred when they were on mere Secret Probation. I doubt 'Bama is rushing to their archives to change Saban's win-loss record. You think Auburn's campus is rushing the streets in celebration of their recently determined victories over 'Bama those years?

A vacated game isn't forfeited to the other team; it's completely stricken from the school's records, as though it never happened. The result of the game does count in the records of opposing schools, though; if a team lost to Bama during this time, it still counts as a loss on their end. (Incidentally, Auburn beat Bama all those years, anyway.) As for whether Alabama is rushing to the archives, if the NCAA mandates that they vacate, they have to do so.

Vacating three years' worth of wins is more than a slap on the wrist. The $43,000 fine is rather comical, though, and they should have lost some scholarships, given that they're a repeat offender.

They vacated wins from mediocre years; it's not like they are vacating a National Championship. Yes, it will go on their record, but it has absolutely no effect on the team right now. Saban couldn't wait to comment on how happy he was that this penalty will not affect anyone currently on the team, nor will it affect recruiting. In other words, the "punishment" doesn't really look like much of a punishment at all. It just looks like posturing on the part of the NCAA to show us all that "even Mighty Alabama can't get away with cheating." I just wonder what the punishment would have been if a lesser program had done the same thing?

Serious question here: What happens if Alabama gets some minor NCAA violations (Lane Kiffin type retardedness)? Would that do anything to their probation status? Or does probation violations only apply to more serious offenses?

Realistically, probation means "don't get a jaywalking ticket or your ass is back in jail, and contact your PO (the NCAA, in this case) every 48 hours. But, considering the textbook scandal falls under the category of "minor major violations", as in the lower rung of a serious concern, almost certainly nothing. Since the NCAA was apparently pretty hesitant to look into the OJ Mayo/Reggie Bush thing at USC, I can't imagine they were chomping at the bit to put Alabama away for something much less serious. 'Bama has been on and off probation for years, and apparently that means nothing.
