Game Day Weather

Submitted by mgoweather on September 13th, 2019 at 11:02 AM

After a couple of gray, rainy days, we're clearing out just in time for what matters - Saturday football! High pressure to the south will keep us dry throughout the game, but if you have plans for the later-day/night, a low pressure system moving in will bring storm chances. We'll warm to the mid 70s with a lighter SW wind, and get some sun! It looks to be a pretty darn nice day for a game, let's come home with a win!

If you're traveling to Madison...

Tailgating

What a refreshing, gorgeous Fall morning! Sunny skies with temps in the mid 50s for you morning tailgaters! Perfect for some warm cinnamon rolls and hot coffee with a little somethin' extra ;) . Winds will be lighter - out of the WSW at about 5-7mph (enough to feel it on your skin, rustle the leaves). Temps will shoot up pretty quickly with the sunshine so this is a good day to dress in layers! Chances are you'll shed the hoodie by the end of the tailgate, and want a t-shirt by the end of the game.

Kickoff

67 for the kickoff! Remember it's 11am here so don't keep track of time using your watch unless it changes over for ya! We'll have plenty of sunshine and just a few clouds, so you may want to put some sunscreen on before heading in if you're sensitive to the sun. Winds will pick up a bit to around 8-9mph, enough to keep those leaves in motion, shifting a tad to the SW.

Halftime

Rounding 70 by the time we're hitting the break! You'll notice a few clouds drifting in, but overall that sky will have a lot of blue! I'm taking this as a good sign for a win. We'll continue to warm, so the half would be a good time to grab a cold drink! Winds are staying up near 10mph, out of the SW.

Post-Game

Heading out on the town to celebrate a win?! Heading back to tailgate more? The weather looks to cooperate for the most part - it depends if you're having some grub and getting out of there, or if you're determined to stay out late. You'll leave the game with temps edging into the upper 70s and a SW wind around 10mph. We'll have plenty of sun with a few clouds, but you'll notice more of those clouds building in as we finish out the day. By dinner-time we'll start to drop back into the upper 60s with winds turning more to the south. For those of you going big before you go home, showers and storms will begin to pop up as we head into the late-night. If you're staying out until that last shout, you've got about a 50/50 shot of being rained on - so you might want to stay semi-aware of walking vs calling an uber to end the night. Driving home Sunday, we'll have some sun, isolated showers, and temps in the low 60s in the morning warming to near 80 for the afternoon.

If you're staying in Ann Arbor...

We've got a great day here, too! We'll begin our day with mid 50s and a few clouds - perfect to grab some chips and dip & walk over to the neighbor's house! Low 70s for the high tomorrow with lots of sunshine and a westerly wind around 10-15mph. We could see some gusts into the 20s during the afternoon, but winds will lighten back up for the evening. It'll be comfy with low humidity levels - dewpoints will be in the mid 50s compared to near 70 Friday! Go blue, beat those badgers!

CHRISTINA BURKHART IS THE MORNING METEOROLOGIST FOR ABC IN FLINT, MI. SHE GREW UP IN ANN ARBOR AND ASSOCIATES SATURDAYS WITH MICHIGAN FOOTBALL. GO BLUE!!

I’m so sorry y’all. I’ve been working 14 hour days all week and left early to travel out of town for a wedding today. I don’t know what I was thinking. :(

Please update !   NOAA is forecasting at game time 35% chance of rain, wind at 13 mph with gusts to 26, and 75 degrees.   Unsettled at best.  Could get big t-storms and delays.  Weather seems like a TBD.
