Big Ten Recruiting Class Rankings 8-21-10

Submitted by Tim on

Action since last rankings:

8-18-10 Wisconsin gains commitment from Bennett Okotcha.

8-19-10 Michigan State gains commitment from Jack Allen.

Slow week in the Big Ten, as I predicted. The sites should be coming out with updated rankings soon, so keep an eye out for that.

just for good record keeping, you got a typo in your big table. michigan state is 4th with a label of 5 and michigan 5th with a label 4

I'm a little surprised MSU is ranked so high because they basically go Thomas, one more 4*, then not much else.  Still, I am liking how this class is shaping up.  Hopefully after 9/4 some of the kids on the fence will go blue.

Do rankings for a particular kid ever go down?  It seems that everyone goes up... but if everyone goes up, is a particular kid any better?  He's pretty much in the same relative spot as he was before.

His film was only "meh," considering the talent discrepancy between his team (with Will Gholston, Ed Davis, and others) and those he was facing. He had trouble staying in shape, and didn't blow either staff away at their camp enough that they wouldn't worry about the other two question marks.

Cool, thanks for the info. I'm not really much at evaluating film (aside from "he's looks fast" or "he tackled that guy!"), but I didn't understand why MSU and UM were cool on him, but OSU, 'Bama, and UF were high on him. I guess if they had the chance to evaluate him in person at camp, they had a chance to make a solid evaluation.

I anticipate their class will go down the rankings quite a bit as other teams fill out their classes. We will have a deep talented class where they will have a elite player and not much else.
