Nick Patterson Commits To Michigan
2020 TX TE Nick Patterson (yes that Patterson) has also pulled the trigger:
2020 San Antonio (Tex.) Christian 3-star tight end Nick Patterson (@Nick_Patt80 )... younger brother of @SheaPatterson_1, commits to #Michigan. "It just felt like home (STORY) https://t.co/P2CvVwcB2b pic.twitter.com/VDNY0uxOzk

Patterson is a mid-three star but obviously it's pretty early for 2020 guys. Listed at 6'3", 215, he's a long way away from college weight and unless that changes over the next year he'll probably stick in the mid-three star area. And he might be more of an ATH in any case:
The versatile youngster has lined up at tight end, wide receiver, slot, and h-back on offense, and has also spent time on the other side of the ball at defensive end. In last Friday's game versus Bandera (Tex.) Patterson hauled in six catches for 90 yards before the game was called at halftime due to inclement weather. His career Michigan will likely begin at tight end or H-back, but Harbaugh & company have made clear their intentions to remain flexible with their plan for using him.
Patterson is Michigan's fourth 2020 commit, joining IL DT Denver Warren, OH WR Kalil Branham, and MI CB Andre Seldon.

Someone who understands this stuff better than me care to explain how 6'3" 215lbs = TE? That just sounds like the measurements of a WR to me.

He's a growin' kid still. Plenty of time to add weight.

I guess I was thinking more of the height component. Maybe I've just grown accustomed to ents with Butt, Bunting, and Gentry. If a kid is listed at 6'3", I generally assume he's less than 6'2".

Think Khalid Hill, who was 6’3” 235 as a HS senior.
September 9th, 2018 at 11:41 PM ^
So we should be thinking of him as a FB?

Dude, stop injecting previously held facts related to the position of tight end. Harbaugh offered and Patterson accepted. Therefore that's all you need be bothered with.

I take it you don't read the posts that the guys write up about new players then?

He's probably more of an H-back. It's kind of a hybrid position for those blocky-catchy types who are tall for FB but short for TE. Khalid Hill is a fair example.

2019 commit Erick All is listed at 6'4" 225, and is considered a top 20 TE. A normal amount of growth can get Patterson there by next year.

I’ve talked about this before but it’s the way they do it in Texas - this kid is probably already 18 or close to it so he’ll probably grow out more than up.

Or your lazy ass could just look up his age Most high school kids have 1-3 inches left in them their last 2 years of school.

SD Wolverine has spoken. What you do is think, "most high school kids" (note no distinction bw freshman or senior) and then apply the well known "fact" that "most" will grow 1-3 inches. Like for example Zach Gentry who was listed as 6'6" in hs is now 6'9". Lol. Dont bother looking back bc you'll see "most" kids recruiting out a year before arrival typically arrive at the same height they listed during recruiting. But hey Patterson is different. He's going to shoot up. Trust SDW.

I would but sometimes I don’t have the resources or capability to surf the web. It’s a over on the other side of the world thing. You could always join my lazy ass.

Probably not fast enough at the next level for WR
