Michigan HockeyCast 5.6: Sloppy Hockey Valley Comment Count

BlueBarron November 8th, 2022 at 7:00 AM

With David Nasternak and Alex Drain

This Podcast Has a Sponsor: Michigan Law Grad Jonathan Paul is the guy with the C you want skating next to the ref and pleading your case. He's also a good guy to sit next to at the hockey games.

Some of you aren't listening! I keep telling you not to listen to the ad-read (this week it is at 31:56). Seth is super embarrassed about it. Once again, I'm begging you to visit Jonathan Paul's website link and listen to all of the podcast just NOT the ad read. Seth gives me a stern talkin' to in the Slack when you don't listen. I don't need another stern talkin' to. He already sang enough in the MGoPodcast this week.

This is who we are. This is the challenge for coach Nar. It will make or break him to some extent, but I was happy with the bounce back 50 mins, and knife to the heart in OT. That makes two OT wins on foreign ice decided by Luke, Mackie and AFan!

Overall we are lucky to have the skaters to fix. Suppose we don't get better? What are the stakes? I'm not seeing the focus, desperation, or intensity. Too many skaters on the ice is on Narauto. We need to get in the game.

I watched the Oilers and Tampa tonight. Great hockey is a joy. Stamkos, Kucherov, and McDavid made it look easy, but it's not. Those are beautiful teams who play together.

The PSU announcers might have a point that Michigan needs to dump it in, and chase it down.

ND is our first common opponent with the Gophers. Let's set our expectations there.

I'm coming for the Friday night game at Yost the following week. I'll try and add some cheer.

Go Blue!

Do you guys know much about recruiting? I thought I saw Michigan picked up a recruit yesterday, it came across my Instagram, but now I need help finding it. What is the cycle looking like for this staff? Minnesota got a big commitment for 2024. What impact has the coaching change had on this? Are we shooting ourselves in the skates by not stripping the Interim off Naurato's title?

How does SOS affect pairwise?

Noah played great, but there was no Portillo chirping to keep the D honest. Portillo kicks pucks back to the blue line often, and we may have missed his intangibles. I like Westie in the net for my stress level. Portillo does wander more.

Agree with Dave and Alex that Michigan's season can go in any direction; lots of talent but could succumb to defensive indifference and be a bubble team or put it all together and contend for the conference title and a 1 seed.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
