Exit Christian Turner Comment Count

Junior running back Christian Turner took to Twitter this afternoon to announce he's putting his name into the transfer portal:

Turner's departure doesn't come as a huge surprise. After totaling a combined 64 rushes over his first two years, he didn't see any action at running back in 2020 and appeared in only one game on special teams.

While Turner had a couple promising flashes early in his time at Michigan, he ended up stuck behind Zach Charbonnet, Hassan Haskins, and Tru Wilson on the depth chart last year, then Charbonnet, Haskins, Blake Corum, and Chris Evans this season. With only Evans slated to depart and two freshman backs signed for 2021, including All-American Donovan Edwards, it's unlikely Turner was going to see much more time on the field.

The Georgia native was a well-regarded three-star recruit whose decision came down to Michigan and Notre Dame. He should pick up a decent amount of interest in the portal. He's the third Wolverine to announce the intention to transfer in the last couple weeks, joining center Zach Carpenter and punter Will Hart.

I really like this kids game, I do believe he can transfer into a P5 school and be successful. I think due to his fumbling issues early in his career and the amount of competition in the running backs room at Michigan, it was hard to reclaim any of the time he lost if/when he was able to improve on his ball security. That said, he's a strong and instinctive runner with good burst and top end speed. If he has the ball security issues resolved, I do believe this kid is going to do some things somewhere.

Best of luck Christian! I wish you success on the second half of your college career.

Wish him luck.  I do think he'll find a nice landing place and will see playing time; hopefully his fumbling issues are behind him because he's definitely got talent.

What a difference an inch makes: things might have been really different if he'd stayed in bounds on his "touchdown" run at the Citrus Bowl. Might have turned that game around; his career around; etc. etc.

1 game and 1 terrible momentum killing roughing the punter. Sucks because he opted back in to play.

Looked great as a Frosh but had some fumbles and could never get momentum.

Guy has skills but change of scenery probably best move.

I was watching the 2018 Peach Bowl and wonder what may have happened if he had not stepped out of bounds during that first drive and that touchdown would have counted. Who knows? Best of luck to him in the future. Don't ask me why I watched the 2018 Peach Bowl.
