Ben VanSumeren Commits To Michigan Comment Count

Ace

Three days after receiving a Michigan offer, Essexville (MI) Garber FB/HB/LB Ben VanSumeren flipped his commitment from Iowa to the Wolverines.

VanSumeren is a three-star ranked 11th in the state on the 247 Composite. As a potential fullback, H-back, or linebacker, he is a very Harbaugh recruit. He's the 17th commit in the 2018 class, which ranks 12th nationally.

I'll have a full Hello post tomorrow.

If he really runs a 4.56 40 maybe we will see him as a regular RB. The measurables on this kid are something else...a 40 inch verticle-really???!!! A Ben &  should make for good short-yardage conversions.

This kid is a football player and an athlete.

Every clip you watch has opponents getting decked. He loves contact and has great hands and great football instincts.

Impressive pick up.

I actually think this kid has a brighter future on defense.  He reminds me of Jake Ryan.

I don't agree with everyone lumping in him with Ben Mason whose best position is FB.

VanSumeren looks like a better athlete to me.

OLB - 1st

TE - 2nd

FB - 3rd

If he wants to play in the NFL, I think he should go talk to Dr. Blitz.

You should get in touch with Harbaugh to let him know he's making a big mistake.

"The most noteworthy part of the Michigan offer – other than coming from a high-profile, home-state school 97 miles down the road – is that Harbaugh said he plans to use VanSumeren as an H-back, fullback or off-the-line tight end. VanSumeren said Iowa had him slotted as a linebacker.

“In talking to Coach Harbaugh, I said ‘Coach, what were we missing in this whole process? Because we think he is an offensive kid.’ And he said ‘We think he is, too.’
