The Ace Pod 2.2: I Need Somebody
This podcast is brought to you by the law offices of E. Jason Blankenship, who’s got a shiny new site to show off.
SEGMENT ONE: ALL-B1G EVERYTHING
With the Big Ten yearly awards out, we go over the selections and make our own picks. After starting out in lockstep with the media, we quickly diverge, and we took different approaches to assembling our second and third teams. Poor Daniel Oturu deserves better than second-team but good lord the big men in the conference this year are ridiculous.
SEGMENT TWO: BTT PREVIEW
Rutgers looks like a good matchup, particularly since Michigan has, y’know, already beaten them twice away from Crisler this year. In general, this is a good draw for a nine-seed, particularly if Michigan can make the requisite adjustments should they get to Wisconsin—they figured out too late that Brandon Johns needs to be the backup center in that game. Both of us get a little weird with our title game predictions.
SEGMENT THREE: MBB MAILBAG
Can Michigan win the Big Ten tournament? What about the whole damn thing? Also:
- Describing Juwan Howard’s offensive philosophy
- What the return of Austin Davis means for next year’s roster
- John Beilein, Michigan assistant? (No.)
- Why floor slapping is bad and people who do it should feel bad.
Alex brought up this wonderful Jae’Sean Tate moment and it’s worth treasuring:
SONGS:
- “I Need Somebody” — Iggy & The Stooges
- “Shiny New Model” — Bodega

The origin of this is Duke and that’s why everybody hates it.
My wife: why is there coffee all over your shirt? You just put that on.
Me: I--Seth--photoshop--I--
My wife: Oh, one of those Mgoblog things. Never mind.
You need to balance the levels of the two channels.

Yes, a little more post-production work is in order, please. Alex Cook is way, way louder...
Ace kept trying to fix that last night.
Good to know you guys are aware of it. Football struggled with audio levels for a while (especially since Brian tends to speak quietly at times) but settled into a pretty good situation.
My other suggestion would be to space this out from the full pod. When the full pod goes 90 minutes and posts on a Monday, posting similar content a day later means it will likely get less traffic.

I've seen a lot of unpleasant images on the internet, but this one is among the most uncomfortable.

If y'all wanted to do any NBA playoffs content this year... I would listen to it.
Carry on.
On the subject of wing minutes next year, I think one way it will sort itself out (assuming no attrition) is that Johns and/or Todd will play some small ball center.
Center is the least confident in the depth chart and we've seen this year a weakness against stretch big men that could be helped by playing a more athletic guy in that spot a few minutes per game.
