One of the worst sights in football.

After the first Indiana touchdown I headed towards one of the endzone corners that Michigan would be attacking on the next drive. An event staff yelled at me to move because I was in the way of the emergency medical cart. I moved but was confused - I didn't see an injury on the touchdown play, or at least I didn't see the typical timeout that occurs when someone is down long enough to need the cart. I turned around and my heart sank when I saw the entire Michigan team taking a knee.

[Patrick Barron]

One of the worst sights in sports is seeing a cart come out. It takes the air out of everything. At the very least Mike Hart appeared alert as I watched the cart go to the ambulance in the tunnel. I was shook for the rest of the first half - especially considering this was Mike freakin' Hart. I started attending Michigan football games in the early 2000s. Mike Hart and Chad Henne are probably the two first players I can remember being a huge fan of. Just the fact that Mike and Denard are still out there every game just fills my heart with joy. This was just gutting.

Of course now we know that he is stable and under the careful watch of doctors and medical specialists. At the time we did not know this. The team did not know this. How do you just... play football after that? I mean I just take pictures, I don't have to tackle anyone or run a ball into a pile of angry men twice my size, and I was having a tough time shooting. Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards were in tears. Then they just... kept playing football.

They're giving the game ball to Mike. [Bryan Fuller]

I cannot imagine the range of emotion on the sidelines during the first half. The performance on the field felt like it was effected. The whole thing just... sucks, man.

Anyways, we kept shooting. The team kept playing. I have to say, after a weekend of self-deprecating punting apparel, Indiana felt a bit tame. After the jump you'll see a photo of a sign that is well below the standards of "I'M JUST HERE FOR THE PUNTER."

Once JJ started cooking in the 2nd half, it got fun.

Sponsor Note: Ok, well we don't have a sponsor.

BUT

If you'd like to support us, one of the simplest things you can do is follow us on social media (links just below) where we post way more photos than here. In the offseason I also do a LOT of wildlife/national park photography. While we're not allowed to sell any of our sports photos per our credential agreement (sorry to anyone who reached out asking about one), I sell prints from my adventures which I sell on FineArtAmerica. You can buy prints (or just look at some pretty pictures) here: Patrick Barron Art Collections

Also I just added a Katmai collection! Check out my pretty pictures of bears. Use promo code NHDXTV for 20% off.

More great work. Thanks, Patrick.

A few thoughts:

• Are you sure the Katmai picture you posted is of Katmai? It looks a lot like Michigan football dealing with Indiana.

• "Sir, how dare you wipe your mouth in public? Dost thou not realize that is uncouth in our fair state?"

• Is a middle finger a Hoosier greeting, like dogs sniffing butts? Or is it the Tinder of Indiana?

• "The state flower of Indiana" is brilliant.

Was a little surprised they didn’t flag Cornelius for the Wakanda Forever salute because it wouldn’t surprise me if Ulysses Klaw was the IU athletic director

Random question....Initial reports are that Hart had a seizure.

I've heard this can happen randomly, be caused by stress, or be linked to underlying conditions - most notably epilepsy.

MGoDoctors, Is there any link where CTE causes seizures.  I googled it out of curiousity and it seem that it goes the other way, where repeated seizures can cause CTE.

Any abnormal structural damage to the brain can be an epileptogenic focus for seizure activity.

Previous stroke is the most common cause of geriatric new-onset seizure for example.
I didn't bother scholar.google the CTE/seizure link, but I'd guess yes, CTE -> seizures.

Seizures are not associated with causing CTE.

CTE is due to repetitive micro-trauma to the brain. Seizures are not really micro-trauma per se, just abnormal electrical activity. I'm not an MGoNeurologist though and would defer to one.
