my gosh, after you bring this up about that criminal....reminds me how much i cannot f*cking stand that we have lost 9 of the last 10 to that "no nothing party school" of thugs and criminals. seriously. as hoke says, characters wins in life, and on the football field, and boy i cannot wait until they bring the wood to those guys.

I think you mean "know nothing party school," as in Buckeyes are idiots and know nothing.
Or, perhaps, you meant the Know Nothing movement, and believe the Buckeyes are against German and Irish Catholic immigration to the US. They are intolerant in Columbus, after all.

You've yanked back the curtain on that which I held most dear. It's like finding out that Lindsay Lohan and Charlie Sheen are low-life addicts. Nex tthing you know, you'll be telling me that water is wet and the sky is blue...

Anybody who gives one nickel to Art Schlichter is a fool, and so are the legions of people each year who invest in get-rich-quick schemes all over the country. The only thing that enables guys like Schlicter to work their cons in the first place is that they know there is an inexhaustible supply of gullible nitwits eager to throw their money at him on the basis of vague and ridiculous promises.

The Crown Prince of Namibia sent me an email and wants me to wire him some money. He says that his national bank is good for it. And he's going to give me, like, a 100% return on my investment. I mean, what could go wrong?

Schlichter sucks, but it is pretty common knowlege among the older segment of the TSIO fanbase that Earle Bruce was often seen at the race track with Schichter. I know that we are all responsible for our actions, but sometimes a coach has to say, "whoa!"
When Earle Bruce sat in the Schlichter house, telling Art's parents that he would "take care of their son for the next four years," I'm pretty sure that isn't what they had in mind. At best, he was an enabler. At worst, it may have been Bruce who actually introduced Schlichter to the track and encouraged him to develop his habit.
Neither is what a major college coach should be doing "for" a player.

...recruited by Woody Hayes. IIRC, Bo was recruiting Schlichter in his house and Art's dad told Bo that Woody guaranteed them that Art would start as a freshman at Ohio State. Bo got pissed off (at Woody), tactfully said a a few choice words, and stormed out. That effectively ended Bo's recruitment of Art Schlichter, and now they have that black eye to deal with. Coincidentally, as a freshman starter Art Schlichter threw the interception that lead to a furious Woody punching our good friend, Charlie Bauman, which ended the Hayes era in Columbus. Earle Bruce was hired from Iowa State to replace Hayes that year. But you are right, they were regularly seen at the track together.
