Charles is one of 3 (now 2 I guess)
Our beloved Mr. Woodson is now one of only 3 players to possess all of the following:
1. Heisman
2. National Championship
3. Super Bowl Ring
Can you guess the other 2. Hint: One fell out of the category recently.
Que Jeopardy music.......
Answer:
Alex, who is Tony Dorsett and Reggie Bush (who technically lost his heisman)
Congrats Charles.
Charles had one thing the others didn't, a broken collarbone during the SB.

...as Allen was on the 1978 USC team.

That's quite a set of accomplishments by Woodson...
however, Denard may join that list in the near future (hopefully)

All Denard's got left to do is win the Heisman, win a national championship and win a superbowl and he's there. What constitutes "the near future"?

Yeah, I mean we're basically a shoo-in for the national championship in one of the next two years. Our roster and schedule set us up for a guaranteed Nat. Title run!!!

thank you

And boom, just charles

He'd have to get Super Bowl MVP as well and he'd still be 1 of 2.
Credit to the guy above who brought this up. I just looked up the wiki for the information.

and then Charles takes the cake (nice find)
Only primarily defensive player to win the Heisman in the modern era,
DPOY
etc. etc.

My friend and I were just talking about this last night. Charles Woodson will always be in a class of his own because of his Heisman as a defensive player. However, he has no shot at MVP in the league. That always goes to a QB or maybe a RB if they played out of their mind that year. Woodson would basically have to have a pick, sack, and forced fumble in every game, which some of those going for 6 to even be considered for league MVP. He could get Super Bowl MVP if the Packers go next year and he has a great game.

Lets just sum it up as the only one to do it as a defensive player.

And Thanks for the research. Personally i still view the Heisman as a pageant and not comparable to team awards. You dont have to go that far down the list to understand that Jason White and Eric Crouch hardly had a chance at the NFL let alone being eligible to win a Super Bowl. So, as I shuffle past Danny Wuerffel I find this troika to be flimsy, at best.

Just failed from the list.

Hes also the only defensive player to win the heisman and play in the SB. and the only defensive player to win the heisman and score a TD in the pros. and the only...

that the last two Michigan Heisman Trophy winners have both won Super Bowls with the Green Bay Packers?
There must be something in the water. Go Blue!
By the way, check this link out:

both also wore the number 21. I guess Charles was attempting to channel some of the magic Desmond had when he won his superbowl with the packers.

Desmond 21 at Michigan, wore 85 with the Packers when he was MVP of SB XXXI.

Don't forget NFL defensive player of the year!
February 7th, 2011 at 2:40 PM ^
Woodson....you will never see another football player like him again.
February 7th, 2011 at 3:08 PM ^
Woodson also won Mr. Football in Ohio, so here's a more expanded accomplishment list:
-State POY in high school
-Heisman Trophy
-National champion
-NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year
-NFL Defensive POY
-Super Bowl champion
Can Dorsett/Bush/Allen match this?

All he's lacking is a Nobel prize and an Oscar, but he's young and may still achieve those.
Seriously, he'll also get into the HOF which is another big achievement.

Throw in the $2Million he donated to Mott's and he leaves the likes of Bush and Allen in his dust.
