see what happened with quarterback Robert Marve, running back Ralph Bolden, and receiver Keith Smith, and BB player Robbie Hummel.  A couple repeat torn ACLs after treatment and apparently more.  Epidemic?

the case is that this is crunch time and borges and hoke have their head up the asses while they are aiming for second rate  qb's when we only have 2 that  can get on the field. we need to sign to in this class and hope that one is good enough to play now if Denard or Devin gets hurt and let the other qb redshirt.

By the way Drew Brees and Kyle Orton played at Purdue.

So first you tell us that Bellomy is second-rate, and now you're bringing up the fact that a recent Super-Bowl winner and another NFL starter played at Purdue. Does the fact that Purdue offered the supposedly second-rate Bellomy a scholarship mean anything to you?

Maybe the coaching staff reached out to Brisett and we just don't know about it.  Also, it is the final week of January and signing day is a week and a half away, so it's not exactly the time to start building a relationship with a blue-chipper.  I have no problem with offering/signing Bellomy or someone similar.

And yeah, I know we are Michigan and we should expect more than an, "OMG 3 STARRRZZZZ!!1!!11!," quarterback.  But sometimes you take the hand you are dealt, raise the pot, and see what you get on the flop, turn, and river.  I would rather have Russell Bellomy in the recruiting class than swing and miss badly on a longshot like Brissett and have nothing.

Is that I'm not sure that our current situation is the best one for attracting a blue-chipper this season.

Right now, you have Denard, who is the starter for at least two years.   Then, there's Gardner, who could be there for four years (assuming that redshirt comes through).   If you're a blue-chipper, do you want to recind your current commitment or if you're not committed, sign with a school that's not on your radar when there isn't any clear road for playing for two years minimum and maybe up to four?

I think it's more likely that we get a developmental guy in this class and maybe another one in the next class and then go for a blue-chipper in one of the next two classes.

You do realize that almost all blue-ship quarterbacks don't care about that, right?  This year, the #2 and #3 Pro Style QBs both committed to the same school, a school that took the #5 pro style QB the year before.  So they both have a very highly rated guy just one year above them, and a virtually equally rated guy in the same class.  It's very likely that neither of them start until they are seniors, and also likely that one of them is never a starter unless he transfers.  The school is USC, but this happens a lot.

Anyway, these blue chip kids all think they're the best ever, and think they'll be the one starting.  For as good as Gardner is, I don't think he's what's keeping QBs from coming.

Why are we looking for another dual threat QB? Isn't that what we are trying to move away from now? Don't get me wrong, I love rolling the QB out of the pocket and having the option of him taking off [a la Aaron Rodgers] but is that a part of the scheme that Borges and Hoke are trying to implement long term?

I figured RR would take committed kids from other schools in conference, but didn't figure Hoke to be that sleazy.  I thought he was a stand-up guy.  Go take kids from a B12 or ACC school, not us.

But he just has to look at our depth charts and see that we are relatively deep at QB for the next few years.  Probably is entertaining other offers, or at least Michigans, because you only have 2 scholly QB's and he can probably play sooner.

Maybe you haven't noticed, but there have been several kids flip-flopping between B10 schools this recruiting cycle.  So...

a) This happens and you will just have to get used to it

b) I resent your remarks insinutating that RR was the only one who would ever do such a thing, and the fact that you essentially called him sleazy.

"Dual Threat" doesn't necessarily mean he's a QB who runs and has a questionable arm.

Ricky Stanzi was considered a dual threat QB coming out of HS.
